    Job Description

    The purpose is to help with the implementation of services, policies and programs throughout Finance and Human Resources and contribute to the accomplishment of practices and objectives that will empower and equip our ministries.

     

    FINANCE:

    The finance department provides complete finance service to the whole of Bridgeway, addressing all issues of a financial nature and providing all relevant information to meet external demands.

    • Ensure timely, accurate, and confidential processing and recording of various financial activities to include the counting of offerings, daily input of invoices, copying, scanning, and filing of paid bills, disbursement of checks, and other projects as needed.    
    • Support the Controller in recording and retrieving financial details, including maintaining financial records, processing payments, cash handling, and reporting. Some of these responsibilities include:
    • Year-end updates and reporting: W-2, W-9, 1099, Reserve Study, sales tax, 1094/105C, etc.
    • Monthly department reports
    • Ensure liability accounts are balanced monthly: HSA, 403b, medical, dental, vision, etc.
    • Monthly reconciliation of F1 fund with PayPal, Focus, and Ministry Brands
    • Provide exceptional service to staff, vendors, the congregation, and our community.  Consistently represent the church with professionalism, enthusiasm, and integrity.  Demonstrate a positive, energetic influence throughout the organization.  Proactively respond to inquiries and concerns; clearly and positively communicating solutions with exceptional follow through.
    • Reconcile monthly credit card statements.  Verify/check supporting documentation for credit card expenses, ensure all supporting documents are received, and resolve allocation issues.
    • Check and scrutinize invoices for accuracy, follow-up with vendors as needed.
    • Serve as a point of contact for staff and volunteers for check requests and day to day finance questions.
    • Plan, organize and manage own workload to ensure your contribution to Bridgeway’s monthly financial reporting is achieved in a timely and accurate manner.

     

    HUMAN RESOURCES:

    Human Resources supports, encourages, equips, and maximizes the performance and contribution of employees by providing leadership and management resources.

    • Work closely with Operations Director to ensure the smooth operation of all Human Resource matters. Provide support for, and at times take ownership of, functional areas of Human Resources to include: benefits administration, recruitment/onboarding, termination/exit interviews, employee relations, support training and development efforts and performance management.
    • Coordinate aspects of employee benefits administration relating to healthcare coverage and timely benefits enrollment. On an annual basis, work with Director of Operations to analyze and review benefit coverage and assist in managing open enrollment process.
    • Oversee EASE Benefits Administration system and updating of benefits
    • Administer workers’ compensation program. Act as point of contact for claims to include expediting service to injured workers, processing new claims, and tracking for annual 300a reporting.  Manage non-reportable and reportable accident reports and recommend preventative measures to safety team. 
    • Administer all aspects of COVID in the workplace to include tracking, employee testing and notification, reporting to LHD and OSHA, payroll, etc. Maintain Bridgeway’s emergency response plan and protocols.
    • Proactively and efficiently manage all payroll activities.  Ensure the integrity of all payroll data through the accurate completion of bimonthly payroll; maintaining, updating and auditing payroll records; proactively resolving all discrepancies; collecting time and attendance records; and effectively communicating with appropriate financial institutions and outside agencies. 
    • Oversee timekeeping system to include setting up new employees, training staff, running reports, etc.
    • Partner with the Director of Operations in the development and implementation of effective employment strategies, systems, and policies.  Support efforts to ensure written policies and procedures are current, legally compliant, and align with the vision and values of Bridgeway.  Ensure staff is informed, understands, and follows employment practices and policies.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive matters and interactions in a positive and professional manner.
    • Other duties as assigned.
    • Support and contribute to a safe and healthy work environment.  Specifically, follow Bridgeway’s Injury Prevention and Safety program, support and maintain safety standards, and participate in safety training.

    Reports to: Director of Operations

    Experience and Ministry Expertise:

    • Knowledge of financial systems and spreadsheet software packages, to include Microsoft Excel
    • High level of integrity and ability to keep information confidential
    • Demonstrated knowledge of employment laws and HR principles.
    • Minimum 2 years of experience processing payroll.
    • High attention to detail and accuracy
    • Ability to plan and organize tasks efficiently

    Employment Requirements:

    • Regular church attendance and membership at Bridgeway
    • Must pass a pre-employment reference and background screen
    • Proof legal authorization to work in the United States
    • Numerical competence
