    We are a small to mid-size successful and growing construction company that provides services such as Wood Damage Repairs, Structural Improvements, New Builds and many types of Property Maintenance Repairs. We don't just repair wood damage, we also build beautiful and cost-effective decks, patios and balconies in San Diego and San Diego County.

    POSITION SUMMARY

    Construction Estimator (Multi-family) must be a seasoned professional experience detail oriented, strategic in approach, competitive by nature, and who is well versed and comfortable using industry related technologies and software. Prepare detailed estimates for Multi-family Construction & Repair projects or services to determining price of product or service. Ideal candidate should have a working knowledge of blueprints, construction drawings, industry products & materials, specifications and other related construction type documents.

    The duties of the estimator will vary, however, they can expect to be responsible for estimating construction projects throughout the area. This generally consists of project management and pricing of materials, labor, and equipment for various projects.

    The Estimator will participate in all aspects of the bid/estimating process, including but not limited to, the review of any available plans and specs, soliciting and negotiating prices with subcontractors/suppliers, quantity take-off, pricing, scoping, and bidding of the construction process. This role is highly collaborative and will work closely with Best Rate Repair’s internal teams as well as external suppliers, clients, architects, and engineers.

    What a day in the life will be like…

    Assemble competitive estimates for customers with limited information and plans. This would also include scope creation as needed to produce a proposal, overall budget.

    • Effectively manage daily work output, meet bid deadlines, and work in a fast-paced environment.
    • Represent the company on pre-bid job walks with clients and/or architects, and relay site visit information to other team members and trade contractors as required.
    • Orchestrate and manage trade-contractor site visits.
    • Analyze trade-contractor estimates for scope accuracy and completeness.
    • Write scope and distribute it to the Sub Contractors to minimize stranded scope, omissions, and double coverage.
    • Perform accurate quantity take-offs.
    • Compile and update historical cost data for use in conceptual or rough order of magnitude estimates.
    • Provide cost/ benefit analysis of building systems and provide value engineering input during the estimating process.
    • Determines material and labor requirements for the project and prepares itemized lists of cost estimates.
    • Generate change orders, Manage RFI’s, Addendums, Notifications and communicate with clients during bid process.

    What your background will be:

    • AA Degree or higher in Construction Management, Engineering, or related major and/or 3+ years of multi-family repair estimating experience required
    • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel
    • Buildertrend software (preferred)
