BrightStar Care is offering the opportunity to join our team as a wound care nurse (RN/LVN) working PRN with our home care clients and curating your own schedule!

BrightStar Care is seeking a Registered Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse to provide wound care for our patients and facilitate their speedy recovery. You will be responsible for educating them and their families on prevention and healthy habits. The ideal candidate will be a responsible and well-trained professional able to give the best nursing care with little supervision. You will be able to follow health and safety guidelines faithfully and consistently. The goal of the wound care nurse is to promote patient’s well-being by providing high quality nursing care.

Responsibilities

Provide thoughtful care to client & patients based on Plan of Care

Proactively updated client/patients’ family on plan of care, health changes, and concerns

Administer wound care based on physician orders

Ability to present and prevent and identify infections

Administer medications as prescribed

Provide infusion therapy

Ability to preform sterile procedures such as PICC line dressing changes

Train patients on self administered meds

Perform assessments to determine need for care

Monitor patient’s condition and assess their needs to provide the best possible care and advice

Provide instant medical care in emergencies

Foster a supportive and compassionate environment to care for patients and their families

Skills:

Proven experience as a registered nurse or licensed vocational nurse

Excellent knowledge of nursing care methods and procedures

Excellent knowledge of emergency care

In-depth knowledge of health and safety guidelines and procedures (sanitation, decontamination etc.) and willingness to follow them at all times

A team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Responsible and compassionate

Outstanding organizational and multi-tasking skills

Patient with excellent problem-solving skills

Requirements:

No wound care certification necessary

Not currently requiring COVID-19 vaccination

Current unrestricted RN or LVN license in state of Texas

Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.

Certified CPR and negative TB skin test or chest x-ray

Minimum one (1) year of documented experience required in a home health agency, primary care clinic or health facility, preferred.

Possess exceptional nursing assessment skills

Analytic/Critical thinker.

Licensed driver with valid automobile insurance

Ability to work on weekends, nights and holidays

Reliable transportation

Must be able to stand walk, squat, bend, kneel, reach, twist, push and pull. Varied assistance is required depending on the mobility of the client. Must be able to lift up to 50 pound
