    Job Description

    REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR OF COMMUNITY SCHOOLS AND YOUTH SERVICES

    BRIGHTON PARK NEIGHBORHOOD COUNCIL (BPNC) is a community based, nonprofit organization serving a working class neighborhood on Chicago's Southwest side. BPNC's mission is to create a safer community, improve the learning environment at public schools, preserve affordable housing, provide a voice for youth, protect immigrant rights, promote gender equality, and end all forms of violence.

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    Under the general supervision of the Director of Community Schools, Resource Coordinators are responsible for managing and directing all program instructors; ensure the safety of all students and participants of the programs; facilitate strong working relationships with school principal, other administrators, teachers and other school staff and the implementation of monthly events that engage the participants’ families in enriching and educational workshops. Resource Coordinator will work at Shields Elementary.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Manage community school program and work in collaboration with parents, students, teachers, BPNC Directors and School’s administrators to develop new and sustainable programs

    2. Coordinate and help facilitate meetings of the Leadership Team (i.e. Community Advisory Council) that works to evaluate and strengthen programs offered

    3. Coordinate and organize public events that unite the community utilizing schools as the center for learning and positive engagement

    4. Create plan for programs to be offered at school that directly relate to the compliance requirements of the funding source that will provide the funds for the services

    5. Work with school leaders to develop and implement a recruitment plan for program and services

    6. Maintain timely and accurate attendance records for all programs, including: program rosters, paper attendance forms and sign-in sheets, electronic attendance tracking

    7. Develop a plan or procedure to ensure all instructors submit attendance on time

    8. Collect attendance on a regular basis to ensure compliance by all instructors

    9. Manage the timesheets, check requests, check distribution, and reimbursements for all FSCS staff and instructors

    10. Follow payment schedule to ensure timely submittal of check requests

    11. Keep copies of documentation submitted

    12. Ensure that instructors are submitting a timesheet and reporting hours on a timely basis for all scheduled pay periods

    13. Work with BPNC and school administrators to develop and maintain budgets and expenses for all programs

    14. Supervise and evaluate the performance of staff including instructors, security, and volunteers.

    15. Strengthen and enhance the partnership between school and BPNC to ensure it is a strong and sustainable partnership

    16. Cultivate relationships with other local schools and social service organizations to continually enhance the services provided at the Community School

    17. Other related job duties as needed

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

    · A Bachelor’s degree in social work, education, or related human service field from an approved accredited college/university preferrerd

    · Minimum of 2 years of experience working with children and/or adults in a non-profit, social service or community development organization

    · Bi-lingual (Spanish or Mandarin)

    · Good communication with parents, students, and other school staff

    · Any changes in the work schedule MUST be previously approved by the Resource Coordinator

    · Ability to work independently with strong sense of focus, task-oriented, non-judgmental, clear sense of boundaries

    · Ability to work in a variety of settings with culturally diverse families and communities and ability to be culturally sensitive and appropriate
