    Job Description

    We are looking for a Procurement Counsel to join our innovative and growing legal team! As Procurement Counsel, you will report directly to the VP, Deputy General Counsel - Centralized Services. You will be a key partner with the business in helping Brightspeed negotiate high-value software, network, technology and supply contracts with vendors, suppliers, manufacturers, platform and SAAS providers and other partners to help build and expand our business, systems, and network infrastructure to serve our mission of providing customers with access to the best Internet service available, no matter where they call home. You will join a team of experienced attorneys providing specialized legal support in procurement law and complex agreements in connection with the sale of high-speed broadband services and emerging technologies. You will have the opportunity to interact regularly and effectively with senior management and demonstrate your creative, strategic, and innovative skills while handling a high volume of matters and bringing those matters to a timely conclusion.

    As Procurement Counsel, your duties and responsibilities will include:

    • Provide legal advice and support for the CAO, CTO and Procurement teams in contract negotiations, interpretation, and closeout
    • Support the contracts that will enable the offering of new products based on master supply agreements and direct contracts
    • Assess the viability of and, where appropriate, direct pre-bid and post-award protest efforts
    • Advise (and work with the business) on a range of legal, regulatory, privacy and compliance issues including information security, CPNI, ECPA, False Claims Act, procurement integrity, and other issues that arise in the procurement setting
    • Perform all functions with urgency and purpose
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    WHAT IT TAKES TO CATCH OUR EYE:

    • JD degree and 6+ years of relevant work experience
    • Active and in good standing with a state bar and, if necessary, eligible for limited In-House Counsel Licensure
    • Relevant and recent legal experience including significant experience in RFPs, supply chain and procurement contract laws
    • Good research and writing skills
    • Willingness to travel when required
    • A collaborative, team-oriented, flexible, innovative, and “can-do” attitude
    • A customer experience perspective

    BONUS POINTS FOR:

    • Large law firm experience
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and demonstrated ability to close matters in an ethical and timely manner
    • Telecommunications industry experience
