    Job Description

    We are currently looking for a Leave of Absence and Benefits Coordinator to join our growing HR team! In this role, you will report directly to the Health and Wellness Benefits Manager. You will be responsible for the day-to-day administration of employee leaves of absence and supporting health and welfare and retirement savings benefit plans. You will regularly work with insurance brokers and plan carriers on benefit-related matters. You will provide special guidance and assistance to all locations on various employee benefit plans and leaves of absence and surveys industry market trends to determine company’s competitive position in employee benefits.

    As a Leave of Absence and Benefits Coordinator, your duties will include:

    • Administer and track all employee leave programs (FMLA, Short Term Disability, Long Term Disability), including parental leave, medical or disability leave, military leave, or unpaid leave
    • Facilitate the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) interactive process with employees and managers, inducing the development of alternate work arrangements
    • Respond to questions from Leaves and Benefits email inboxes pertaining to LOA offerings, benefit plans, benefits enrollments, status changes, and other general inquiries to ensure quick, equitable, courteous resolution
    • Support the development of training materials for HR Managers/HR Business Partner with managers to better understand benefits and leave process.
    • Work closely with legal counsel and HR Operations to ensure leave policies are updated and in compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
    • Administer all employee benefits programs, including, but not limited to, Health and Welfare, 401k, and Leave of Absence
    • Assist with annual enrollment planning, set up and communication process as well as annual retirement plan audit
    • Assist with employee benefits plans and works with insurance brokers and plan carriers on data requests
    • Conduct monthly and quarterly benefits enrollment audits
    • Assure company compliance and provisions with Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA) activities, supervising preparation of reports and application required by law to be filed with federal and state agencies, such as IRS, DOL, insurance commissioners, and other regulatory agencies
    • Prepare data/reports for Health & Welfare and 401k non-discrimination testing, surveys, data transmissions, claims analysis, and special requests
    • Research and remain current on all market benefit trends to ensure Brightspeed remains competitive with benefit offerings
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    WHAT IT TAKES TO CATCH OUR EYE:

    • Bachelor’s degree required, Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Finance, Law, or related field preferred
    • 3+ years of experience in a corporate benefits role developing and administering health and welfare, disability, and retirement benefits
    • Excellent knowledge of federal and state benefits regulations and legislation (e.g., PPACA, ERISA, IRC, DOL, FMLA, ADAA, COBRA, HIPAA)
    • Excellent knowledge of technical aspects of benefits administration (e.g., discrimination testing and government reporting obligations)
    • Excellent written and oral communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills; ability to interact at all levels within and outside the organization
    • Strong analytical and quantitative abilities, including assessing utilization and cost impact
    • Excellent project management skills
    • Highly adaptable to changing business conditions and priorities

    BONUS POINTS FOR:

    • 5+ years of experience in a corporate benefits role developing and administering health and welfare, disability, and retirement benefits
    • Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS)
