    Herman Construction Group, Inc. (HCG) is excited to announce an opening for a skilled Quality Control Manager to join our dynamic team. Reporting to the Contractor, Herman Construction, you will oversee all aspects of the Contractor's Quality Control (CQC) for the Mule Creek State Prison Fire Alarm Replacement Fire Suppression Repair (FARFSR) Project in Ione, CA. Responsibilities include maintaining up-to-date records of quality control operations, activities, and tests conducted, encompassing the work of subcontractors and suppliers. These records must be comprehensive, providing factual evidence of completed quality control activities and tests. Project Scope of Work Work covered by contract for the Mule Creek State Prison Fire Alarm Replacement Fire Suppression Repair (FARFSR) Project in Ione, CA includes the design and construction to repair or replace the existing non-operational fire alarm system and/or components, to provide a fully operational fire alarm system, as required by the CDCR and Office of the State Fire Marshal. The fire suppression repair consists of the repair of known deficiencies in the sprinkler heads, risers, valves, and switches. It also includes conducting the five-year NFPA 25 inspection, testing, and maintenance of the overhead fire suppression system and providing written reports of the findings. The results of that testing will determine other repairs not covered by the Work needed to bring the fire suppression system into compliance. The DBE will perform this added work through the issuance of change orders approved by the CDCR, funded through the allowance allocated within the Stipulated Sum. Compensation: $105,000 - $125,000 yearly DOE Responsibilities: • Develop and execute the Quality Control Program effectively. • Ensure the fulfillment of the Contractor’s LEED Coordinator obligations, where applicable. • Collaborate with and offer support to the Government’s Commissioning Authority. • Participate in partnering meetings, QC Plan Meetings, and Coordination and Mutual Understanding Meetings. • Review and approve submittals. • Verify testing procedures and provide the necessary QC certifications and documentation as per the Contract. • Oversee and coordinate the three phases of control and documentation carried out by testing laboratory personnel and any other inspection and testing personnel as specified in the Contract. • Enforce rigorous QC policies and procedures. • Ensure compliance with OSHA and USACE EM385-1-1 regulations. • Conduct weekly QC meetings and generate daily QC reports. • Maintain thorough documentation for QC compliance and keep record drawings and specifications updated. • Identify, document, monitor, and track the completion of rework items. Qualifications: • Minimum five years of Construction Quality Control experience of similar size and complexity, Or a minimum of 10 years of construction experience. • Previous experience with the California Department of Corrections & Rehabilitation or other types of jail/prison systems will be looked at favorably. • CPR, AED, and First Aid courses completed within the last 2 years. • As a condition of employment, you may be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and have acceptable references and background check results. Working Conditions Job is performed in a combination of office and outdoor site locations. The office setting includes exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, and mouse. Outdoor settings include walking, driving, and carrying supplies throughout all seasons with exposure to heat and cold conditions, and potentially wildlife. Is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise. Physical Requirements This position requires the ability to maneuver around work sites, see, hear, and verbally communicate with co-workers and clients. Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining the physical condition necessary for bending, stooping, sitting, walking, or standing for prolonged periods of time; frequent opportunities to move about and to work outside the office environment for extended periods involving exposure to the elements with weather that will include extreme heat, cold, wind, rain or other inclement weather, walking over rough and uneven surfaces, and routine lifting of up to 35 pounds. If required, must properly use personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times including but not limited to; hard hats, steel-toed boots, eye protection, respiratory protection, and hearing protection.
