  • Responsibilities

    SES Constructors, a BBCH company, is seeking an experienced Sr. Estimator to manage our heavy civil estimating team. The ideal candidate should have management experience and be well-versed in preparing detailed estimates for projects based on construction plans and specifications, and scopes of work. The senior estimator works closely with our management team. Responsibilities: • Produce written proposals, basis of estimates, cost estimates, budgets, and updates for project managers, senior management, and clients • Manage overall estimating workload within the civil business line • Independently determine/develop crew and equipment assemblies, production rates, and schedules for heavy civil scopes of work based on industry experience • Ability to identify and communicate project risks and incorporate mitigation strategies developed through communication with the management team • Furnish accurate and clear quantity takeoff information to provide a detailed list of materials and assess the total construction costs • Prepare, seek review of, and submit inquiries to clients regarding drawings, specifications, and scopes of work • Support constructibility reviews through communication with the project team, designers, and subcontractor market • Prepare organized and accurate cost estimate backup documentation • Develop, maintain and expand subcontractor and supplier database Qualifications: • Must have extensive knowledge/experience in self-performance of all civil infrastructure scopes of work including earthwork/grading, dam/levee repair and/or repair, dewatering, demolition, underground utilities (e.g., water/sewer/storm), road construction and repair, asphalt pavement, and concrete construction • Minimum 10 years of experience in the heavy civil construction industry; project cost estimating and construction management experience is preferred • Experience estimating federal projects is mandatory • Ability to read, understand and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project schedules. Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills • Requires critical thinking, analytical and strong math skills • The successful candidate will have experience with spreadsheet, word processing, scheduling and estimating software • The successful candidate must have the ability to recognize the need for additional support and resources to complete identified proposal/estimate preparation opportunities • A degree in construction management, engineering or equivalent experience is required Compensation: $100,000 - $130,000
