  • Responsibilities

    As a valued member of our team, The Dispatch and Logistics Manager is responsible for optimizing the distribution of concrete production across multiple plant locations within the company's capacity constraints. This role involves strategic assignment of yardage to each plant based on their specific capacities and managing the logistical coordination of the company’s fleet to ensure efficient and timely delivery of concrete to various construction sites. The Dispatch and Logistics Manager will work closely with plant managers, production teams, sales, customer service team and logistics staff to ensure that production and distribution align with customer demands and company objectives.

    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

    This is a full-time position. General days and hours of work are Monday through Saturday, hours to be determined. Not eligible for remote work. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Pay: $100k - $120k based on experience

    Essential Functions:

    Assign concrete production volumes to each plant based on their operational capacity, taking into account current market demands and logistical considerations to ensure efficient resource utilization.

    Coordinate with logistics teams to align fleet availability with production outputs at various plant locations, ensuring vehicles are effectively scheduled for timely deliveries.

    Regularly assess and plan for plant and fleet capacities, including forecasting future needs based on seasonal fluctuations, market trends, and company growth objectives.

    Work closely with plant managers, production teams, sales, customer service team and logistics staff to ensure seamless coordination between production and delivery, enhancing overall operational efficiency.

    Monitor operations to ensure compliance with all relevant local, state, federal, and Department of Transportation regulations.

    Analyze operational data to track performance against goals, identify areas for improvement, and report on key performance indicators to senior management.

    Proactively address and resolve issues related to production or logistics, such as delays, bottlenecks, scheduling conflicts, or unexpected changes in demand, by developing and implementing effective solutions.

    Maintain ongoing communication with plant managers, dispatch, suppliers, logistics and sales to ensure alignment and responsiveness to operational needs.

    Identify potential risks in the production and logistics processes and develop strategies to mitigate these risks, ensuring business continuity and operational stability.

    Utilize and manage technology solutions for scheduling and logistics to improve accuracy and efficiency in operations.

    Keep accurate records of driver assignments and any deviations from the planned schedule.

    Assist in the training and development of staff involved in production and logistics to ensure they have necessary skills and knowledge to meet their responsibilities effectively.

    Non-Essential Duties:

    Competencies:

    · Ability to analyze data and trends to make informed decisions about production allocation and logistics support, ensuring operational efficiency.

    · Strong organizational and planning skills to manage multiple tasks and priorities seamlessly, ensuring all plant operations are aligned with company goals.

    · Proficient in identifying issues quickly and developing effective solutions, especially in situations where logistical challenges affect production schedules.

    · Excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate with all levels of the organization and external stakeholders clearly and effectively.

    · High level of accuracy and attention to detail to ensure that all aspects of production and fleet scheduling are managed correctly.

    · Ability to adapt to changes in the market, production needs, or logistical constraints, and adjust plans and schedules accordingly.

    · Understanding of relevant local, state, and federal regulations, particularly those affecting productions and logistics in California, ensuring compliance in all activities.

    · Ability to work collaboratively with others across various departments, fostering a teamwork environment and supporting cross functional projects and goals.

    · Capable of making independent decisions based on available data and operational needs, balancing various factors to arrive at the best outcome.

    · Experience with using technology solutions, such as production planning and fleet management software, to enhance efficiency and accuracy in scheduling logistics.

    Travel Required: Less than 10%

    Preferred Education and Experience

    Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management or relevant field, preferred.

    5+ years of dispatching experience, preferably in a construction/transportation related environment.

    Experience in a scheduling, logistics or dispatching role is highly desirable.

    Familiarity with scheduling software or transportation management systems.

    Proficient with Microsoft Suite.

    Bilingual in English/Spanish, preferred.
