    GENERAL SUMMARY:

    A unique opportunity exists to join a team in creating a vibrant senior learning community on the campus of Purchase College, State University of New York. The residents of this university-based retirement community will be able to enjoy the many amenities of the college including the renowned Neuberger Museum of Art, the Performing Arts Center, the academic and athletic facilities, and the park-like campus. They will be able to enjoy all these benefits while living in a village designed specifically for their interests and needs. As part of the Purchase College community, Broadview residents will enjoy both formal and informal programming and collaborative opportunities designed to promote intergenerational engagement with members of the college community, ranging from classes and mentoring to providing employment opportunities for students. Broadview will offer the full continuum of services, inclusive of Independent Living, Assisted Living, Enhanced Assisted Living, and Memory Care. The community is slated to open to residents in the third quarter of 2023.

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The Driver is responsible for the timely and safe transportation of residents to various individual and group activities/functions and medical appointments.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Map out driving routes ahead of time to determine the most expedient trip

    • Pick up Broadview residents from the place and at the time they’ve requested

    • Assist residents with loading and unloading their luggage

    • Listen to traffic and weather reports to stay up-to-date on road conditions

    • Adjust the route to avoid heavy traffic or road constructions, as needed

    • Answer residents’ questions about the area and local places of interest

    • Ensure the car seats are clean and comfortable for all riders

    • Schedule regular car service appointments and report any issues

    • Book car wash and detailing services to maintain interior and exterior cleanliness of the car

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • High School Diploma or GED equivalent

    • Must possess a current, clear and valid CDL driver’s license with Passenger endorsement.

    • The ability to speak, read, write and comprehend the English language.

    PRINCIPLE DUTIES:

    • Picks up and delivers residents to all scheduled activities and appointments where transportation is needed.

    • Completes daily safety check of the applicable vehicle, (i.e., car or bus) before transporting residents to and from scheduled activities and appointments.

    • Accurately records vehicle mileage and resident attendance for all scheduled transportation.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

    • Maintains the cleanliness of the vehicle, inside and out.

    • Transports vehicles to service locations for routine preventive maintenance on vehicles as scheduled by supervisor.

    • Notifies supervisor of necessary repairs and vehicle malfunctions.

    • Maintains daily safety check list of vehicles.

    • Immediately notifies supervisor of resident concerns, problems, or incidents.

    • Assist other departments as needed.

    • Makes miscellaneous runs for administration errands as necessary.

    • Accomplishes all work in the order of priority set by supervisor.

    The salary range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00

    Schedule:

    • 8 hour shift

    Ability to commute/relocate:

    • Purchase, NY 10577: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

    Driver responsibilities include arranging regular cleaning and maintenance services for the vehicle, planning each route based on road and traffic conditions and managing payments.

    To be considered for this role, you should have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record with no traffic violations. The driver must be able to help residents with putting packages in and out of the vehicle and must be able to lift up to 30 pounds frequently.
