Internal Medicine Registered Nurse Manager
The Broadway Medical Clinic Internal Medicine Nurse Manager is responsible for overseeing six registered nurses and ten medical assistants in a busy independent primary care office in Portland, OR. This leadership position requires close collaboration with other managers, administration and physicians to ensure delivery of the highest quality nursing care to patients.
The Internal Medicine Nurse Manager oversees all day to day operations, creates covering schedules, supervises the nursing staff, recruits, hires and trains new staff, conducts monthly nursing meetings and annual performance reviews. The position demands formulation and implementation of new policies and procedures, overseeing quality measures and initiatives, and participation in all aspects of medical home recognition/certification.
Essential job functions:
Interviews, hires and trains new nursing personnel
Identifies nursing staffing needs in collaboration with physicians and administration
Supervises nursing staff closely to identify quality gaps, educational needs and assess job satisfaction
Evaluates staff performance on an informal and formal basis. Completes annual performance reviews and provides recommendations for merit increases.
Conducts monthly nursing meetings to communicate nursing policies, shifts in clinic direction and priorities, provide education, address nursing staff concerns. Increase frequency of meetings during times of transition.
Prepares and manages fluid work schedules demanding a high degree of organization
Demonstrates competence and experience regarding quality measures and medical home recognition/certification
Possesses ability to run point of care equipment, train other and perform regular competency testing of staff
Performs budget analysis of nursing department and presents findings to physicians and administration
Required qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited registered nursing program
Unencumbered nursing license for the State of Oregon
Minimum of three years experience in direct patient care, preferably in an ambulatory setting
Preferred qualifications:
Minimum of two years nursing management experience, preferably in an ambulatory setting
Experience meeting quality metrics
Knowledge of all aspects of medical home recognition/certification
Expected skills:
High degree of comfort with electronic medical records
