JOB TITLE: Shipping/ Receiving Assistant
REPORTS TO: Shipping Department Supervisor
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt, Hourly
POSITION SUMMARY: Assist with preparing load for domestic and international shipping. Receiving shipments daily. Palletizing and shrink wrapping loads, measuring and weighing pallets and assisting Shipping Coordinator with daily duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Interprets invoices, bills of lading and general directions.
· Prepares merchandise for domestic and export shipments, including documentation, and keeps records pertaining thereto. Compares quantity and identification numbers of merchandise against orders.
· Verifies receipt of incoming freight against bills of lading, packing slips and purchase orders. Performs inspection of incoming goods.
· Notification and/or delivery of incoming product to end user.
· Confers with Supervisor or VP of Manufacturing on export shipments when necessary.
· Requires organization and interpersonal skills to coordinate with other departments and outside vendors.
· Receives and checks paperwork of incoming literature.
· Documentation verification for AIB standards.
· General housekeeping, maintenance and organization of the dock and inventory areas.
· Uses Process Shipper software for processing shipments.
· Assists in creating of Bill of Lading.
· Uses Sage computer program to retrieve information and create documentation.
· Performs all other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Able to work with minimal supervision.
· Able to assist workers in solving work related problems.
· Must be available to work a flexible schedule to accommodate shipping needs.
· Must be able to read, write and communicate in English.
· Must have good basic math skills.
· Must be able to become a certified fork lift operator.
· Must have previous experience in shipping and receiving department duties.
· Must be able to operate a computer and be familiar with Microsoft Office products.
· General Education Diploma.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Must be able to lift/carry 45 lbs without assistance.
· Must be able to stand for up to 4 hours at a time.
· Must be able to bend, squat, reach, push, pull, climb and walk.
