Job brief
BTN is seeking a strong candidate for the Transportation Manager Role. The job holder will oversee the transportation department in collaboration with the National Distribution Manager.
General Outline:
Reporting to the National Distribution Manager this position takes on full responsibility for the management of BTN’s transportation needs for all locations across the country. While working closely with Divisional managers you will ensure that their various needs from a transportation perspective are coordinated in a fashion that allows each department and division to execute to the best of their abilities. Responsibilities will include the development of a transportation team, systematic processes and protocols, that focus and provide support on all functions related to transport planning, documentation processes, cubing efficiency, driver negotiations, carrier contracts, trailer rentals, cross-border documentation, cross-dock planning, procedural timelines, and all transportation analytic needs.
Job Requirements
Minimum 5 years experience in the transportation industry
3PL: 1 year (Preferred)
Must possess a clean driving record, preferably with an AZ license
Expert knowledge of dispatch operations, transportation management and logistics solutions with a broad knowledge of MOT rules and regulation.
General knowledge of North American transport lanes and regional market trends
Must have strong communication and managerial skills
Ability to utilize transportation tools and technologies, such as TMW/Truck Mate or other TMS system, GPS Routing Software, modeling tools
Demonstrated knowledge of transport pricing techniques as well as rate structures by mode (including accessorial charges)
Ability to research trends, keep abreast of emerging technologies, understand and evaluate operational system advancements to provide appropriate recommendations to management.
Excellent organization and time management skills
Strong skill base and comfort with technology including Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, and routing or dispatching systems.
Fast decision-making skills to resolve time-critical issues.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English)
Thorough understanding of both BTN policies as well as the Occupational Health and Safety Act

All BTN farm staff should expect to be physically involved in any farm operations at any point.
Flexible with scheduling to meet the needs of the business
During peak season (April/May and November) staff is expected to work longer hours as well as weekend work.
Education & Experience
High school Diploma Required
Post Secondary preferred
Bilingual, an asset
Self-motivated, self-directed, analytical and strategic thinking individual with a demonstrated ability to deliver results based on the overall company strategy
