    ABOUT BROOKLYN MINDS

First, do good. We live and breathe that - with our patients, our team and those we work with outside our family. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, the US is currently battling a mental health epidemic, with one in five Americans struggling with mental illness in one form or another. Brooklyn Minds makes a big difference in the daily lives of our patients through our collaborative approach, being at the forefront of care, and providing customized and comprehensive mental health care to individuals and families across the lifespan. But we aren't stopping there. We have even bigger plans in mind, and if you have what it takes, you can help us solve a lot of pressing problems. Come and do good with us.

    JOB DESCRIPTION

This job covers two different roles: TMS Technician and Winnicott Coach. Both roles involve direct patient care, and the combination of hours with each depends on what services are in-demand by clients at any given time.

Note: This position cannot be performed remotely. Brooklyn Minds has run TMS services throughout the pandemic, as this treatment is vital to keeping our clients healthy and safe.

    WINNICOTT COACH:

At Brooklyn Minds, we believe that recovery begins at home. We also understand how difficult it can be to manage everything life throws at you. We created the Winnicott Residential and In-Home Services Program to support all aspects of a client's life in recovery. Our goal is to help clients find meaningful lives with a positive sense of the future.

Clients of the Winnicott Program receive integrative, individually tailored support services that are offered within their home and community. Services vary depending on the client and their specific needs.

    TMS TECHNICIAN:

We're all about groundbreaking, evidence-based treatments to help our clients get better. Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is one of the treatments we're able to offer at our offices to treat major depressive disorder, OCD, and more. Our technicians are trained in deep TMS by Brainsway, and work directly with clients to administer whatever treatment is prescribed by the client's psychiatrist.

    INTERACTIONS WITH OUR VALUES

At Brooklyn Minds, we've found that our values are better represented by balancing juxtaposed principles. Our values are dialectical, and we view them as two bookends that we aim to move easily between or embody both simultaneously. Here's how we see this role interacting with each of our values.

    • Technological sophistication and human connection

The Winnicott Coach / TMS Technician, as a client-facing role, uses a lot of human connection! At the same time, this role has to be comfortable working with technology to make sure that everyone is on the same page and provide the best care for our clients.

    • Teacher and learner

Our Coaches and Technicians both serve as a fount of information for our clients, while also maintaining a curious stance about what works for an individual. People who excel in this role are constantly looking for ways to share relevant information about a client, so that the whole team is on the same page.

    • Empathy and accountability

The Administrative Assistant must use excellent judgment in balancing empathy and accountability. Because this position deals with clients who often have questions or concerns, it's important to meet them with empathy, while clearly laying out our policies.

    • Autonomy and collaboration

The Administrative Assistant completes tasks autonomously while working as part of the admin team. This team is at its best when individuals are communicating about who is responsible for which tasks as they come up.

    • Transparency and privacy

Communications with clients are largely transparent to the company as a whole, but are not available to the public and other clients, as our clients' privacy is a top priority. The Administrative Assistant may sometimes be asked to provide protected client information (such as a parent calling to ask about their adult child's treatment), and should feel confident in upholding HIPAA and Brooklyn Minds' own privacy standards.
