Responsibilities: • Show patients how to use recommended devices for orthodontics and dental appliances, such as retainers and dentures and educate on the importance of good oral hygiene • Examine the patients’ teeth thoroughly using diagnostic tools, procedures, and instruments to spot signs of dental diseases and determine the overall state of dental health • Coordinate and perform preventive dental care treatments such as sealants, x-rays, flossing, fillings, and fluoride applications, and cosmetic dental services such as whitening when indicated • Oversee associate dentists, dental hygienists, dental assistants, and administrative staff, and communicate with support staff regarding patient care plans • Issue referral for the client to dental specialists, such as pediatric dentists, orthodontists, endodontists, and periodontists when appropriate Dentists at OHP complete comprehensive general dental care for children from birth to age 19, including preventive and restorative services. These services include: Diagnostic • Comprehensive and periodic exams • Radiographs and radiograph interpretation • Risk assessment • Treatment planning • Referrals to specialists as needed • Complete hygiene exams • Head start screenings • Tele-dentistry appointments and screenings • School-based team exams and radiographic interpretation Preventative • Prophylaxis and scaling • Fluoride treatment • Oral hygiene instructions • Nutrition counseling • Anticipatory guidance • Sealants Non-operative dentistry • Silver diamine fluoride treatment • Protective restorations • Sedative fillings Restorative • Stainless steel crowns • Resin fillings • Amalgam fillings • Pulp therapy (pulpotomy, pulpectomy, partial pulpotomy, indirect pulp therapy, etc.) • Primary tooth anterior crowns • Hall technique crowns Oral Surgery • Simple extractions • Trauma exams, follow-up, and treatment during clinic hours Qualifications: • Strong bedside manner and great communication skills are necessary • Relevant knowledge of dental standards and guidelines, public health standards, and dental medicine trends and advances is an asset • State license that is current, unrestricted, and in good standing • Computer proficiency is desired • CPR, BLS, and NPI certifications are required • Compassion for underserved populations Compensation: $220,000 - $250,000 yearly
