  • Responsibilities

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

    • Execute the project plan as outlined by the Project Manager or Engineering Group Manager
    • Submit work supervised by Project Engineer II or Senior Project Engineer for signing and stamping design drawings or reports
    • Mentor staff engineer or engineering technicians within the department
    • Assist next level of management in the proposal development process
    • Actively engage in business development activities for the department where marketing leads are provided to the client services group and identifying additional opportunities to expand existing scopes of work
    • Responsible for successful completion of assigned projects
    • Assign task(s) to Staff Engineers or technicians
    • Meet and correspond with clients to obtain direction and provide feedback
    • Communicate with Project Manager or Engineering Group Manager regarding job process, status, difficulties, and administrative issues
    • Assist in the preparation design concepts and development project plans and specifications
    • Assist in conducting design analysis for projects as required
    • Conduct site visits/field investigations as authorized and directed by the next level of management
    • Preparation of design documents for review by the Senior Project Engineer or Engineering Group Manager
    • Use computer programs and spread sheets for engineering analysis and presentations
    • Edit word-processing documents and understand procedures for file saving, retrieving and transferring data
    • Maintain project files, according to company document retention guidelines
    • May not change scope of work without approval of Project Manager.
    • Perform other duties as assigned

    Required Skills

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

    • Knowledge of Engineering concepts, theories, and practices for the area of technical specialty
    • Knowledge of lateral resistance analysis (L-Pile a plus)
    • Knowledge of settlement analysis
    • Knowledge of slope stability analysis
    • Proficient with GDOT's soil surveys, pavement evaluation, and LRFD for BFI and WFI or able to learn

    Required Experience

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    REQUIRED:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field is required from an accredited university
    • 2-5 years of relevant engineering experience

     PREFERRED:

    • Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited university is a plus

     

    LICENSURES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND REGISTRATIONS:

    • Registered EIT (Engineer In Training) in that state of the home or branch office
    • Registered PE (professional engineer) in the state of the home branch or office is a plus

     

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Must regularly lift/ move up to 25 pounds and infrequently lift/ move up to 50 pounds
    • Must be able to walk several miles in extreme weather conditions
    • Stand, walk, use of hand finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls
    • Reach with hands and arms
    • Talk and hear
    • Sit, climb/ balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl

     

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    • Regularly works in varying outside weather conditions where noise levels can be loud
    • Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and exposed to fumes and airborne particles
