    INTERN 

    Reports to: STUDIO DIRECTOR/MENTOR

    At Browning Day, we believe in a creative approach to design solutions in collaboration with our clients, consultants and within our studio. Sustainable design is a key element of our design process and one of our core values. We are located in downtown Indianapolis and are eager to hire interns at all levels of professional development.  

    Browning Day regularly offers internships in architecture, planning, landscape architecture and interior design. Through hands-on experience, our internships can enhance a student’s skills and we involve interns in all stages of the process. We strive to provide an environment where interns can both learn from professional mentors and contribute to project success. 

    Primary role is to deliver solutions that meet the functional needs of our projects, and create lasting, memorable spaces that bring value to our communities and our clients.  

    Responsible for:  

    • Responsibilities vary based on experience, area of focus, and business needs.

    Preferred Technical Skills 

    • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of technical plans, drawings, and models. 

    • Knowledge of commonly used concepts and best practices within the profession, knowledge of design, trends, construction methodology, and material application / manufacturer appropriateness. 

    • Knowledge of design principles and the ability to interpret design concepts for implementation. 

    • Ability to graphically communicate design concepts. 

    • Prepares and conducts client presentations. 

    • Proficiency in the following:  

    • MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) 

    • Scheduling software (Team Gantt) 

    • Financial tracking software (Deltek Vantagepoint

    • Online project management software (PlanGrid, Procore, ViewPoint, eBuilder) 

    • Sketchup and Revit 

    • Understand the capabilities of AutoCAD 

    • Understand the capabilities of 3D rendering software (Lumion, etc.) 

    • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)

     

    Qualifications 

    • Possess creative talent ability to share complex and diverse conceptual design ideas. 

    • Foster mutual trust and confidence 

    • Ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and provide high-quality service to clients. 

    • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written. 

    • Ability to work in a team environment. 

    • Satisfactory completion of a background screening and drug test

     

    Compensation 

    • Seasonal position with a competitive hourly compensation.
