Brunch Cook
We are a busy kitchen and bar in Costa Mesa and hiring for immediate weekend brunch line cooks. We are looking for experienced Cooks with a sense of urgency to prepare and cook a variety of dishes for restaurant guests to enjoy. Cook must understand and have worked in a high-volume breakfast/ brunch kitchen with prior experience working a short order egg station.
Responsibilities:
Prepare fresh ingredients for cooking according to recipes/menu
Cook food and prepare menu items in a timely manner
Test foods to ensure proper preparation and temperature
Operate kitchen equipment safely and responsibly
Ensure the proper sanitation and cleanliness of work surfaces or serving areas and storage containers to ensure safe and sanitary food-handling practices
Ensure freshness of food and ingredients by checking for quality, keeping track of old and new items, and rotating stock
Respond to guest feedback with appropriate urgency and professionalism
Qualifications:
Previous experience as a restaurant cook in a high volume kitchen preferred
Must have or obtain CA Food Handler’s certification
Speed, efficiency, and consistency when cooking and plating dishes
Effective communication skills
Ability to work standing for duration of shift
