  • Responsibilities

    As an integral part of the Private Fund Accounting Group, and reporting to the Private Fund’s CFO, the Controller will join a highly collaborative group and facilitate the completion of the monthly and quarterly end financial close process, preparing financial statements, overseeing the fund administrator, assisting in year-end audits, recurring tax reporting, and other responsibilities as may be reasonably assigned from time to time. The ideal candidate will possess a combination of private and public accounting experience with exposure to private credit funds, partnerships, and consolidations.

    Responsibilities:

    • Prepare period accounting and reporting packages, including fund-level net asset values and investor capital statements.
    • Review monthly net asset value package prepared by Administrator.
    • Maintenance of general ledger for various funds and investment entities.
    • Calculate management fees and process 3rd party invoices.
    • Prepare monthly performance estimates and final performance numbers to be distributed to investors.
    • Prepare monthly investor allocations schedules and review Administrator investor allocation schedules.
    • Review K-1 schedules and tax adjustments and allocations prepared by outside tax professionals.
    • Assist in annual audits and financial statement preparation. Review and improve processes and controls.
    • Prepare information related to due diligence requests.
    • Strong understanding of business and accounting principles including consolidation reporting/elimination entries and fund accounting.
    • Provide financial information and reporting to internal management, external counterparties, and investors.
    • Interact with senior management, corporate accounting, operations, analysts, and legal.

    Required skills and qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
    • CPA or foreign equivalent.
    • 3+ years’ work in public accounting.
    • 5+ years’ work experience in commercial accounting or Private Equity
    • Knowledge of U.S generally accepted accounting principles and procedures for private investment funds, including experience with fund-level accounting and reporting
    • Working knowledge of investment and fund performance metrics, distributions and capital calls calculations.
    • Possess strong analytical skills required in reviewing, researching, and resolving issues surrounding accounting and financial matters.
    • Exposure to complex fund structures, waterfall calculations, performance calculations (IRRs), distributions and capital calls calculations is a plus.
    • Experience with annual external reporting (audited financial statements)
    • Strategic thinker with the ability to master both the details and the big picture.
    • Ability to operate independently and handle many projects at once without losing track of the details.
    • Someone who is comfortable with ambiguity, has an excellent work ethic and likes to take ownership of your work
