Position Overview
We are seeking an Automation Engineer to support Siemens Desigo building automation system work at a pharmaceutical manufacturing client site in the Research Triangle Park, NC area. This role covers the full BAS engineering lifecycle — control code development, graphics engineering, technical documentation, and test/commissioning support — for systems supporting HVAC, environmental monitoring, and critical utilities in a GMP-regulated facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and modify control logic and sequence-of-operations programming for Siemens Desigo BAS field panels supporting HVAC, environmental monitoring, and critical utility systems.
- Build and animate dynamic building automation graphics using the Desigo graphics editor and standard library.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including functional specifications, point lists, sequence of operations, network architecture drawings, and as-built records.
- Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), including point-to-point checkout, alarm/event verification, and commissioning activities.
- Support execution of formal validation testing and documentation for BAS points and systems that fall under GMP change control.
- Collaborate with client engineering, facilities, and quality teams to align automation work with site requirements and regulatory expectations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve BAS issues across field panels, graphics, and network communications.
Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with Siemens Desigo (Desigo CC) or comparable Siemens building automation platforms.
- Experience with BAS control programming, graphics development, and technical documentation.
- Familiarity with BACnet and/or Modbus protocols in a building automation context.
- Experience supporting FAT/SAT, commissioning, or validation testing for automation/controls systems.
- Strong technical documentation and communication skills for a client-facing onsite role.
- Ability to work onsite in the Research Triangle Park, NC area.
Preferred
- Prior experience in a pharmaceutical, biotech, or other GMP-regulated manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with CQV (Commissioning, Qualification, Validation) documentation practices.
- Experience working for a systems integrator supporting multiple client sites.
