Job Description
The Tutor reports to the Teacher and will assist the Teacher in various teaching activities, including individual and small group instruction, classroom management and general supervision.
REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma, recommended Associate degree in early childhood development, 1+ years’ experience as Teacher Assistant or Certified Basic Teaching
- Employee must undergo a pre-employment physical examination. This examination will be given at the employee expense by a license physician and will include a TB test as requires by Community Care Licensing. Additionally, immunization records must be submitted in accordance with ORR regulations.
- Employee must submit to a live san fingerprints process. Employee must receive clearance from Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Investigation and Child Abuse Index per Community Care Licensing.
- Employee must sign a statement acknowledging the child and elder abuse and neglect reporting.
- Participate in employee orientations and ongoing training.
- Have a current California Driver License and automobile insurance.
- Employee must have the ability to use office machines, word processors, computers, etc. to prepare the necessary documentation, reports, etc.
- Employee shall complete a minimum of one-hour training in the area of child and elder abuse recognition, identification, assessing and reporting.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND OBLIGATIONS:
- Ability to present oneself and one's ideas with clarity, confidence and poise
- Assists Teacher in managing the classroom;
- Coordinates with Teacher on the day’s agenda and lesson plans;
- Prepares lesson plans and instructional materials, including translation as needed;
- Conducts lessons under the guidance of the Teacher;
- Conducts tutorial lessons to individual or small groups of UAC;
- May conduct larger group activities and/or lessons, as directed by the Teacher;
- Conducts demonstrations as required by the lesson plan;
- Distributes all required learning materials to UAC;
- Oversees safety and well-being of UAC
- Maintains cleanliness of classroom and work areas.
- Monitors UAC’s performance and submits progress reports to Teachers.
- Provides assistance to new UAC and assists in their orientation.
- Attend staff and committee meetings as required.
- Work with the instructor in recognizing learning problems.
- Other duties and tasks assigned by the Teacher, and/or management.
