Abacus is looking to hire a PART TIME (Weekends) Building Engineer in Baltimore, MD.

Position Overview

The Building Engineer balances routine inspections, reactive maintenance, and tenant support responsibilities with disciplined escalation and documentation practices to ensure operational continuity and tenant satisfaction. This shift-based engineering role supports continuous operations within a Class A office building by providing hands-on technical coverage and operational oversight during assigned hours.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled and unscheduled inspections of tenant and building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and life safety.
• Monitor critical systems and building conditions during assigned shifts to identify abnormal conditions or risks.
• Respond to reactive maintenance requests and operational incidents in accordance with established procedures.
• Support after-hours tenant activities, events, and special operational needs.
• Escalate issues appropriately to the Facilities Chief Engineer or on-call management when thresholds are exceeded.
• Document inspections, incidents, and service activities accurately in CMMS or shift logs.

• Completion and accuracy of inspections and rounds.

• Friday 11:30 PM to Saturday 8:00 AM

• Saturday 11:30 PM - Sunday 8:00 AM

• Saturday 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM

• Sunday 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM
