    Job Description

    A successful Building Systems Engineer has a passion for utilizing technology and data to analyze and improve the efficiency of complex building systems. The person in this role will collaborate across internal and external teams – including the project team, energy team, development team, client maintenance team, and client building owners/decision makers – to ensure that IoT sensors, controllers, and customer equipment is working properly to the most efficient performance possible, with an ultimate goal of making sure that customers meet their energy and maintenance savings goals.

    Key responsibilities of the Building Systems Engineer include but are not limited to:

    • Ensure equipment controls installed in client’s buildings are commissioned and operating properly utilizing ACT Hub platform data analysis
    • Actively participate in the continued development of fault detection and algorithms and commissioning functions to identify equipment and controller faults and anomalies and correct discovered issues when possible
    • Analyze facility and equipment IoT data from existing building systems to gain insights and propose improvements to operation and efficiency
    • Help define and refine automated workflows for issue detection, resolution suggestions, and technician guidance
    • Present data analysis results to clients, vendors, and internal Actuate team members
    • Collaborate with Actuate project management teams and external mechanical technicians to create data-driven work orders detailing technician action items required for equipment repair and maintenance
    • Provide data interpretation support for use during commissioning of new controls and during repairs of existing mechanical equipment
    • Participate in development of new analytics and platform features as Actuate expands to new building types and use cases
    • Work with the hardware development team in the testing of new IoT sensors and controllers
    • Integrate building IoT sensor data and relevant external data sources into the ACTuation HUB analytics platform.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or related field
    • Experience with analyzing time-series data from building systems
    • Knowledge of how various building HVAC and/or Refrigeration systems work
    • Strong technical and analytical skills including troubleshooting to identify and address building systems and controls issues
    • Proficiency with technology along with the ability to learn a new coding language (axon)
    • Capable of proactively managing multiple diverse projects, adapting to change, and continually following through to ensure successful project completion
    • A strong verbal and written communicator with fastidious attention to detail
    • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while contributing to team goals
    • An ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment, working both collaboratively and with a high degree of autonomy
    • A passion for technology-driven solutions and a desire to make a positive social and environmental impact on the world

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Deployment of AI analytics applications
    • Experience with SkySpark
    • Understanding building systems, energy management, or facilities operations
    • Experience with building controls systems
