    A leading architectural, engineering and planning firm with an excellent opportunity for a talented, ambitious mechanical engineer with good people skills to join our Sacramento office. In this position, you will perform mechanical engineering duties and responsibilities as delegated by the Project Manager maintaining a commitment to design and quality in a manner consistent with project expectations, responsive to the client's needs and deadlines, and consistent with our engineering procedures, standards and quality expectations. You will perform calculations, using engineering formulas and skills for mechanical designs such as heating and cooling loads, equipment sizing, materials or site conditions.

    Responsibilities

    1. Calculate heating and cooling loads using engineering formulas and programs, select equipment, layout duct and piping, create and edits project details, writes and edits specifications.
    2. Experience with Revit and AutoCAD MEP.
    3. Plans, schedules, conducts and coordinates mechanical engineering work on projects.
    4. Resolves a variety of complex problems, i.e. conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, difficult condition requirements.
    5. Provides drawing for own designs and as required to assist on other projects.
    6. Researches design options and document findings for the Senior Engineer.
    7. Provides information to Senior Engineer for incorporation into specifications, reviews shop drawings, research code issues and ask general questions of code officials and organizes and maintain project files.
    8. Assures that drawings and designs are in accordance with design standards.

    9. Keeps Project Manager informed of workload and any changes in project scope or services through ongoing communication to understand any project changes, design issues or time/budget constraints that may impact initial assignment.
    10. Provides Senior Engineer with project management and administration assistance.

    Qualifications

    • 6-10 years of experience in the design of HVAC systems for commercial, healthcare, labs or higher education project types and a desire to lead the design of mechanical systems for complex projects, preferred.
    • PE is highly preferred.
    • LEED AP and/or member of professional societies (ASHRAE, ASPE, USGBC, CPD) helpful.
