We are seeking Bulgarian Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Bulgarian is a priority Balkan language, often requested for immigration, asylum, and refugee cases.
Responsibilities
Provide real-time Bulgarian ↔ English telephonic interpretation for USCIS interviews, hearings, and official proceedings.
Interpret with accuracy, neutrality, and professionalism in immigration, legal, and administrative contexts.
Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to USCIS/DHS compliance standards.
Handle both scheduled assignments and urgent/surge requests.
Participate in training, compliance refreshers, and quality assurance reviews.
Qualifications
Native or near-native fluency in Bulgarian and English.
2+ years of professional interpreting experience (immigration, legal, community, or government preferred).
Knowledge of interpreter ethics, confidentiality, and cultural sensitivity.
Excellent telephone communication skills; ability to stay accurate under pressure.
Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 clearance.
