    Our client seeks to make equity investments of $20 million to $100 million in North American based lower-middle market growth software and software-enabled services companies across various sectors. 

    Essential Duties

    Our client is seeking an Associate Director of Business Development for their growing downtown Austin office. As an integral part of our proprietary sourcing strategy, Associate Directors identify, and build relationships, with founders and CEOs of exceptional companies that are potential investment candidates for our client. In collaboration with the investment team, the Associate Director will lead the charge in researching investment themes, developing the firm’s network in new markets, and uncovering growth companies with an ultimate goal of generating proprietary investment opportunities for the firm.

    This role will start out as primarily an inside sales role in the beginning where you will attend conferences, however, this role will morph into a much larger role with a wider scope of responsibilities.  

    Responsibilities

    • Work directly with, and report to, the Vice President of Business Development
    • Research investment themes of interest to our client and construct market maps, perform sector research, and compile target lists of prospect companies
    • Lead outreach to, and build long-term relationships with, founders and CEOs of target companies to generate high-quality, actionable investment opportunities for the firm
    • Expand relationship network with key industry contacts within target themes (e.g.,
      c-level executives, consultants, board members, investment bankers)  
    • Provide execution support on initiatives aimed at scaling the business development functions

    Experience and Qualifications

    • 2+ years of relevant experience, including external, business development-focused roles within financial services, consulting, research and / or technology companies
    • Track record of engaging, and building relationships, with senior executives
    • Self-starter with a strong sense of urgency and ability to deal with ambiguity in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment
    • Ability to quickly build trust and rapport with founders and CEOs
    • Fundamental understanding of accounting and corporate finance
    • Demonstrated leadership ability
    • Creativity and entrepreneurial spirit
    • Excellent analytical, writing and communications skills
    • Strong work ethic and attention to detail
    • Bachelor's degree
