As a Research Analyst and a member of the Applied Research Team, our custom research and consulting division, you'll play a vital role in supporting our public and client-based research. Some of our most recent projects include:

•  Revealing and compiling labor market insights for inclusion in leading national publications such as the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times and for partners such as the World Economic Forum, and expressed through our thought leadership on issues related to skills, jobs, and the economy
• Identifying the emerging skills and job opportunities that will inform major investments in skills training by local, state, and national governments, corporations, and major philanthropic and corporate foundations.
• Investigating the viability of new degree programs under development by universities
• Conducting analytics that shape the hiring and staff development practices of Fortune 500 firms.

WHAT YOU'LL GET TO DO

The key responsibilities of this position include:

• Contribute as a key member of multiple project teams, performing quantitative research on jobs, skills, and labor markets across a range of industries, issues, and geographies
• Compile, clean, structure, and analyze data for inclusion in client reports and presentations, as well as social media and national publications using SQL, Python, and Excel
• Support the development of new metrics and scoring methodologies to accurately describe the labor market
• Create visualizations of complex data sets for ease of understanding
• Draft narrative descriptions of research methodologies and findings
• Deliver successful outcomes for clients through on-time execution of assigned tasks and project milestones
• Exercise your entrepreneurial spirit and contribute to the company's growth by joining internal projects that develop the data models for new products and initiatives

WHAT YOU'VE ALREADY DONE

Strong applicants for this role will possess a majority of these qualifications:

• Strong quantitative reasoning and research abilities, as well as a passion for using data to solve business and policy problems
• Bachelor's degree in economics, statistics, or another quantitative field
• Prior experience conducting research within an academic or professional environment
• Advanced proficiency manipulating, validating, and analyzing data using SQL, R, Python, and other analytical tools
• Experience creating data visualizations using tools such as PowerPoint, Tableau, or Power BI
• Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
