    Job Description

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS • High school diploma or GED • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education/work experience • 7+ years of residential mortgage underwriting experience with multiple products and/or designations/certifications • Previous experience leading or supervising a team • NMLS license or ability to obtain license within 90 days of employment • Expert-level knowledge of loan origination investor guidelines and federal and state compliance regulations Applicants and/or employees who do not meet the minimum standards must be submitted to Credit Risk with appropriate rationale for an exception to the title classification requirements.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS • Active DE CHUMS and LAPP SAR certifications/designations (may be required for specific roles)

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS • Manage staff by communicating and directing job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job performance; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; and initiating, coordinating, and enforcing policies and procedures • Recruit, select, orientate, and train employees; evaluate and address staff productivity and performance; and develop personal growth opportunities for team members • Delegate workflows and oversee pipelines to ensure all deadlines are met and high customer service levels are maintained • Provide oversight and direction on underwriting quality, perform second-level loan reviews to ensure accuracy, and address and resolve investor/due diligence issues and other escalated issues as needed • Develop policies and procedures for assigned area(s), evaluating and updating processes as needed • Establish metrics that drive and measure staff and department performance • Compile reports, identify trends, provide recommendations to senior management regarding opportunities to increase efficiencies and productivity, and implement changes • Act as a liaison between the Underwriting team and Operations to build strong relationships and ensure rush requests, escalations, and daily inquiries are addressed • Analyze process controls to ensure accurate, complete, and timely procedures, and escalate inconsistencies and problems as necessary • Ensure adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLAs) • Maintain current working knowledge of department practices and procedures • Perform other duties as assigned
