    Job Summary:
    The Business Analyst plays a critical role in supporting the Department of Revenue’s operational effectiveness by analyzing data, evaluating processes, and developing solutions that improve workflow efficiency, compliance accuracy, and customer service delivery. This position works closely with internal teams, system administrators, and leadership to support informed decision-making and enhance departmental performance.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Data Analysis & Reporting

    • Collect, analyze, and interpret financial, operational, and tax-related data to support strategic decision-making.

    • Prepare detailed reports, dashboards, and presentations to communicate findings to leadership.

    • Identify trends, anomalies, and areas for improvement related to tax processing, compliance, or revenue collection.

    Process Improvement

    • Review and map existing business processes to identify inefficiencies or workflow gaps.

    • Recommend enhancements to increase productivity, accuracy, and compliance with state and federal regulations.

    • Partner with cross-functional teams to design and implement process improvements.

    Systems & Technology Support

    • Collaborate with IT teams to define system requirements for updates or new features.

    • Participate in system testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), and implementation of technology solutions.

    • Maintain documentation related to system changes, processes, and procedures.

    Project Coordination

    • Assist in planning, tracking, and reporting on departmental projects and initiatives.

    • Coordinate meetings, gather requirements, and ensure tasks remain on schedule.

    • Support project leads with research, data validation, and operational insights.

    • Ensure business operations align with Department of Revenue policies, state laws, and internal standards.

    • Monitor the quality and accuracy of system-generated outputs and staff work processes.

    • Identify compliance risks and assist in creating mitigation strategies.

    Qualifications:

    Education & Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Public Administration, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).

    • Prior experience in government operations, tax administration, or revenue processing preferred.

    • Experience with data analysis, workflow improvement, or project coordination.
