Summary:
As a Business Architect, you will play a pivotal role in translating business strategy into actionable capability and value-stream models, within an Agile delivery environment (Scrum, Kanban). You will work at the intersection of business, product, technology and operations — ensuring that our product development, platform investments and operational processes are aligned, scalable, customer-centric and responsive to change. This individual engages with clients to implement technology solutions to drive customer value by determining the requirements of a product/technology, or program, and communicating them clearly to the delivery team and stakeholders. The ideal candidate can break through complexity and ambiguity while creating a shared understanding. The Business Architect will actively engage with clients and internal teams to facilitate discovery sessions to distill key needs and collaborate with strategy, design, engineering, and technology teams to translate those needs into project requirements. The BA will have experience engaging with clients in requirements discovery, definition, and management.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Capability Architecture
Translate business strategy, market insights and product vision into business architecture artifacts including a workable backlog, business requirements documents, delivery plans and accountability for ensuring all support documentation is updated when appropriate
Maintain and evolve the business architecture framework for the fintech domain — including shaping how product development, technology and operations work together.
Identify capability gaps, overlaps, redundancies and dependencies; develop roadmaps for capability evolution, reuse, simplification and transformation.
Partner with senior business, product and technology stakeholders to prioritize sprint work and delivery plans within product teams or initiative teams
Extensive experience handling requirement changes and negotiating prioritization amongst respective stakeholders(s)
Process & Value-Stream Design
- Drives facilitation of the delivery framework for strategic initiatives
- Facilitate cross-functional workshops with product, operations, risk/compliance, technology, data and marketing teams to redesign processes in service of scalability, improved customer experience and operational resilience.
- Ensure that business process architectures support desired customer journeys, regulatory requirements and technology platform capabilities (e.g., microservices, APIs, cloud).
Alignment of Business + Technology
- Collaborate with solution architects to ensure that business architecture artifacts remain aligned with technology architectures — ensuring that capability roadmaps, business processes and organizational changes can be supported by the technology estate.
- Provide business-context guidance to product development teams to ensure that technical solutions map to the right business capabilities, value streams and performance metrics (e.g., speed to market, cost to serve, risk mitigation).
- Work with engineering leads to prioritize platform enablers, define non-functional requirements (scalability, data lineage, resiliency) in business terms, and track business value realization.
Governance & Artifact Management
- Establish and promote best practices for business architecture within the organization: templates, standards, workshops, training, governance forums.
Stakeholder Management & Change Enablement
- Act as a trusted advisor to business leaders to understand their goals, challenges and operating context, and translate that into meaningful deliverables.
- Facilitate and lead workshops across business, product, risk, operations and technology functions to build alignment, surface dependencies and drive consensus on architecture direction (e.g. AARs, planning events, etc.)
- Support transformation, change efforts by working with project leads, change management, communications and operations teams to ensure that business-architecture outcomes are embedded into delivery and operational run-states.
Metrics, Insights & Continuous Improvement
- Use data and insights to inform continuous improvement of the business architecture practice — refine the blueprint, identify new capability opportunities, and adjust roadmap accordingly.
- Monitor and report out on sprint and backlog health metrics to ensure team efficiencies and effectiveness.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business, Finance, Information Systems, Engineering or related field (MBA preferred)
- Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in business architecture, enterprise architecture, strategic consulting, business transformation or a related role — preferably within financial services or fintech.
- Strong experience in developing business capability maps, value stream modelling, business operating models, process redesign, and strategic alignment.
- Excellent facilitation, presentation and stakeholder-management skills — able to engage senior executives and drive consensus.
- Strong analytical skills: able to synthesize business strategy, market/competitive context, data/insights and technology implications into coherent architecture recommendations.
- Prior exposure to fintech business models (e.g., digital payments, lending platforms, open banking, embedded finance) is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of regulatory environment and risk/compliance implications in financial services is a plus.
- Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks (TOGAF, Zachman) or business architecture certification (e.g., BCS Practitioner) is considered a benefit.
