Employment Type: Full-Time | In-Office
Compensation: Target Base Salary + Annual Incentive + Potential Equity Awards
Opportunity Overview
A well-established Southern California commercial bank is looking for an experienced Business Banker to help expand its small business, consumer, and deposit relationships throughout the Los Angeles market.
This is an opportunity for a relationship-driven banker who enjoys developing new business, building referral networks, and offering creative banking solutions without the layers of bureaucracy commonly found at larger institutions.
The bank has a strong existing deposit base, an established lending platform, and a service model built around accessibility, responsiveness, and long-term client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Develop new deposit relationships, including business operating accounts, money market accounts, and CDs.
Build and maintain relationships with small business owners, professionals, high-net-worth individuals, and local centers of influence.
Identify and originate residential mortgage opportunities, particularly for business owners, investors, and borrowers with more complex financial situations.
Generate SBA lending opportunities, primarily SBA 7(a), in partnership with the bank's internal lending team.
Develop new business through direct prospecting, referrals, and community relationships.
Work closely with internal lending, credit, and operations teams to provide customized solutions.
Manage relationships with a focus on deposit growth, customer retention, and cross-selling opportunities.
Ideal Candidate
Background in business banking, small business banking, branch-based business development, or private banking.
Demonstrated ability to generate new deposits and develop relationships independently.
Established network of business owners, professionals, and referral sources throughout the Los Angeles market.
Familiarity with business deposits, residential mortgages, and SBA lending.
Comfortable operating in an entrepreneurial banking environment without extensive corporate infrastructure.
Strong interpersonal skills and a consultative approach to business development.
Self-motivated, relationship-oriented, and comfortable building a book of business.
What Makes This Opportunity Attractive
Established office with approximately $800MM in deposits.
Ability to offer specialized mortgage and SBA solutions.
Direct access to decision-makers and experienced banking professionals.
Relationship-driven environment emphasizing personal service over transactional banking.
Opportunity to build a meaningful portfolio with significant autonomy.
Annual incentive opportunity with a target of approximately 25% of base salary, plus potential stock awards based on performance and eligibility.
This opportunity is particularly well suited for a business banker at a larger institution who has strong relationships and production capabilities but wants greater flexibility, accessibility, and ownership of the client relationship.
