We are seeking a high-performing, strategic business development leader to drive sustained growth and market expansion within our commercial HVAC division. This role is responsible for developing executive-level relationships, expanding design-build and negotiated work, and positioning the company as a preferred mechanical partner in the market.
The Director of Business Development will work directly with ownership and senior leadership to shape long-term growth strategy, secure high-value opportunities, and strengthen our presence among owners, developers, engineers, and general contractors.
This is not a transactional sales role — it is a strategic growth leadership position.
Market Leadership & Growth Strategy
Develop and execute a 3–5 year business development strategy
Identify target markets (healthcare, industrial, mission-critical, education, etc.)
Expand negotiated and design-build project portfolio
Lead market penetration initiatives in priority sectors
Executive Relationship Development
Cultivate C-suite and senior-level relationships with:
Major general contractors
Developers and institutional owners
Engineering firms
Facility and asset management executives
Position the company early in the project lifecycle (conceptual budgeting, preconstruction, design assist)
High-Value Opportunity Development
Drive pursuit of large-scale commercial and industrial HVAC projects
Lead strategic capture planning for priority accounts
Collaborate with estimating and operations on win strategy
Influence contract structure and delivery methods
Brand & Industry Influence
Represent the company at industry associations, conferences, and executive networking events
Strengthen market visibility and thought leadership
Monitor competitor positioning and market trends
Internal Leadership
Mentor business development and sales team members
Align BD strategy with operations capacity and financial goals
Contribute to forecasting, revenue planning, and margin strategy
