Business Development Manager - MEP Engineering - Base Salary to 110k/year - Columbia, MD
Our client is a global MEP engineering firm with over 25 years of experience, specializing in consulting, project management, and design services. The firm is growing rapidly and is seeking a Business Development Manager (internally titled AEC Business Development Manager) with experience in the MEP, engineering, construction, or architectural sectors. The Business Development Manager will play a key role in hunting for new business for the Columbia office by driving client relationships and project growth throughout Washington, D.C., and Northern Virginia.
Responsibilities:
Monitor industry trends and analyze competitive activity to identify emerging markets, new client opportunities, and areas for strategic growth.
Establish measurable goals, track progress, and contribute to the achievement of annual sales and growth targets.
Partner with executive and office leadership to develop and implement business development strategies that strengthen client relationships, expand market presence, and drive revenue growth.
Cold call, initiate and maintain communication with potential clients to build trust, understand business needs, and position the firm’s services effectively.
Develop and nurture long-term partnerships with existing clients and key industry professionals, including architects, developers, real estate partners, and brokers, to expand the firm’s footprint across sectors such as healthcare, education, and government.
Prospect, identify, and pursue new business opportunities by attending client meetings, conferences, and industry networking events.
Deliver compelling presentations and proposals to prospective clients, showcasing the firm’s expertise and value proposition.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
3+ years of cold calling and hunting sales experience with a proven record of sales success.
Background in sales or client development within the AEC (Architecture, Engineering, Construction) industry preferred.
Compensation:
Base salary to 110k/year
19 days of paid time off (PTO).
