Role Overview:
Could you be our next Manager, Sustainability? **** Globe Life is looking for a Manager, Sustainability to join the team!
In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the Sr. Director of Compliance Strategy and Sustainability and the Chair of the Sustainability Committee with the further development of the Sustainability program. The Sustainability Manager will collaborate with cross-functional partners across the enterprise to drive and implement Sustainability initiatives for Globe Life.
This is a hybrid position located in McKinney, TX ( WFH Monday & Friday, In Office Tuesday-Thursday).
What You Will Do:
- Support the continued development of a formalized Sustainability program that is directly tied to the Company’s strategic objectives.
- Bring together key stakeholders across the Company to help establish alignment and drive decisions needed to meet strategic priorities that support the Company’s long-term performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners across the enterprise, including HR, Facilities, Investor Relations, Investments, Finance, Legal, Compliance, Marketing, Corporate Governance, Enterprise Risk Management and others, to share information and establish workflows and systems that ensure operational reliability, accountability, and clear feedback for priority Sustainability initiatives.
- Provide guidance to the business on Sustainability and ESG best practices, including researching the Sustainability/ESG programs of peer companies.
- Stay informed on Sustainability and ESG trends and developments and make suggestions to improve Company performance related to ESG ratings.
- Support the Chief Risk Officer, and Sr. Director of Compliance Strategy and Sustainability in planning and leading the quarterly Sustainability Committee meetings.
- Continuously improve the Company’s Sustainability/ESG reporting and disclosures.
- Adapt to changing regulations surrounding ESG-related disclosures and policies in the U.S., Canada and New Zealand (including SEC, NAIC etc.).
- Support the Company’s compliance with ESG standards and frameworks including SASB and TCFD.
- Serve as the Company’s data, systems, and operations specialist – tracking Sustainability/ESG efforts and associated critical metrics.
- The Sustainability Manager may be tasked with managing one or more direct reports.
What You Can Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree required, post-graduate studies are a plus.
- 2+ years relevant experience in ESG or corporate sustainability required.
- 5+ years of related work experience in a corporate environment is highly preferred.
- Experience in developing and/or implementing a Sustainability/ESG strategy/program strongly preferred.
- Experience in Sustainability/ESG reporting strongly preferred.
- Experience in adopting an ESG framework (i.e., SASB, TCFD) desired.
- Must demonstrate the ability to serve as a catalyst for change, to influence the Sustainability/ESG performance of a company through exceptional interpersonal, relationship-building and collaboration skills.
- Must have a strong business acumen.
- Must be adept at both creative and pragmatic thinking.
- Must have the ability to work autonomously with a hands-on approach, a self-starter.
- Strong presentation skills and the ability to assert ideas and influence others to gain support and commitment.
- Excellent communication skills (oral, written).
- Excellent quantitative and analytical skills.
- Must be organized, detail-oriented and efficient.
- Technical skills – proficiency with Microsoft Office (including strong Excel and PowerPoint skills), proficiency with Workiva ESG platform preferred.
- Strong presentation skills.
