Position Overview
The Business Development Representative focuses on building new business relationships and creating a pipeline of qualified prospects for the agency’s sales team. This role is ideal for someone who is motivated by goals, confident on the phone, comfortable making a high volume of outbound calls, and interested in growing a long-term career in insurance and financial services.
This position is a great fit for someone with experience in outbound sales, telemarketing, appointment setting, call center sales, or any role that requires persistence, strong communication, and the ability to start conversations with prospective customers.
Responsibilities
- Conduct outbound prospecting by phone, email, LinkedIn, and in-person outreach
- Make a high volume of outbound calls to prospective customers
- Introduce agency products and services in a professional, confident manner
- Identify customer needs and qualify prospects for insurance conversations
- Schedule appointments for account managers and licensed sales team members
- Follow up consistently with leads, referrals, and prospective customers
- Handle objections professionally and maintain a positive attitude
- Research target accounts and develop tailored outreach strategies
- Maintain accurate records of calls, follow-ups, and prospect activity in the CRM
- Participate in community networking events
- Meet weekly and monthly call activity, lead generation, and appointment-setting goals
- Collaborate closely with the sales and marketing teams
Qualifications
- No prior insurance experience required; sales aptitude and drive are key
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Confident, professional phone presence
- Comfortable making outbound calls and engaging with prospective customers
- Able to handle rejection and stay motivated
- Self-starter with the ability to manage a large prospect list
- Goal-oriented with a competitive spirit
- Willingness to obtain insurance licenses

Compensation $55,000–$80,000
Compensation includes a performance-based commission structure. Additional compensation details can be discussed during the interview process.
