Overview of Responsibilities: __ Plans, leads, and manages all Business Development and Community Relations functions to ensure MSGCU’s financial objectives, strategic targets, and goals are met. Leverages MSGCU’s community initiatives and financial literacy efforts to bring our mission and brand to life in the communities we serve. Develops and leads department in cultivating and maintaining key relationships in the markets and organizations served by MSGCU.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
§ Exhibits business insight by applying strong knowledge of the markets we serve and creativity to partner with retail team to create opportunities that positively impact the communities we serve through outreach and to develop external market plans in order to advance the organization’s goals.
§ Serves as the Business Development and Community Relations subject matter expert for the organization and leads and supports the branch network in their relations with members, sponsor organizations, suppliers, other financial institutions, and similar groups. Represents MSGCU at member and community events.
§ Demonstrates member focus by building strong relationships and delivering member-centric solutions through community outreach and delivery of financial education. Identifies new and innovative approaches within these initiatives to develop membership and loan growth to achieve overall sales growth targets.
§ Balances multiple stakeholders by anticipating and assessing their needs to better support and align with the organization’s goals. Oversees strategic partnership of Community Relations Specialist(s) with MSGCU leaders to identify, coordinate, and participate in new business opportunities, community events, and sales events.
§ Ensures implementation of all approved department initiatives and works closely with internal stakeholders to gain support, insights, and success of promotional offerings and programs.
§ Plans, aligns, and prioritizes work in order to meet organizational goals and other commitments, to anticipate and mitigate risks appropriately, and to manage time efficiently. Leverages MSGCU’s resources across multiple groups and organizations to ensure Business Development and Consumer Education strategies are maximized and that MSGCU has a strong presence in the community and credibility as a financial institution.
§ Ensures accountability by holding self and others accountable to meet commitments. Develops key metrics and identifies solutions to measure the direct and indirect impact of Business Development and Community Relations activities. Tracks results of programs and events, analyzing trends and data against targeted goals. Optimizes where necessary to assist in meeting business objectives.
§ Responsible for executing the department vision through creation and implementation of a strategy to provide and increase consumption of financial education in the communities we serve through a variety of delivery channels. Serves as a financial literacy subject matter expert and assists in applying lessons in new and innovative ways. Delivers MSGCU financial education and coaches others who deliver this content for MSGCU.
§ Works collaboratively across all MSGCU departments and with external organizations to help others better understand and communicate the value of our products and services in order to develop support, share accountability for community initiatives, influence and inspire stakeholders, and ensure broad-based support for programs and community outreach.
§ Effectively builds formal and informal relationship networks inside and outside the organization, with a focus on new and existing schools, governments/municipalities, area businesses/employers, and other member groups. Actively participates in and leads community and public relations initiatives, including scholarship and grant programs.
§ Builds an effective team that applies their diverse skills and perspectives to achieve common goals. Provides leadership for team including engagement and development, especially with regard to new and innovative approaches in the delivery of membership solutions, prospecting of new account opportunities, and individual accountability for all assignments.
§ Communicates effectively by developing and delivering various forms of communication (written, verbal, presentation) in alignment with MSGCU’s organizational vision, facilitates discussions, and actively listens to convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences.
§ Drives engagement by influencing others and by developing a healthy climate and direction where people are inspired to do their best to help the organization achieve its desired objectives.
§ Instills trust by gaining the confidence and trust of others by modeling honesty, integrity, authenticity, and behaviors that align with organizational values. Makes responsible choices and exemplifies courage by stepping up to address difficult issues.

Education and Experience Requirements:
§ Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, or related field required; and
§ 5 years of related, progressively more responsible business development or community relations experience, preferable within a financial institution; and
§ 3 years of leadership experience.
Working Conditions:
§ Office and branch location environment with little discomfort from noise, extreme temperature, dust, or other factors.
§ Occasionally required to travel throughout MSGCU's service area as business needs require.
§ Exposed to potentially hazardous conditions, such as robbery. Receives detailed instructions and security procedures on an annual basis to minimize risk.
§ This work involves sitting with brief periods of walking and extended periods of standing and frequently requires lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds.
§ Normal working hours will be MSGCU’s standard branch and administrative office hours of operation, however, periodic weekends and frequent before/after normal office hours will be required.
