    Position Overview:

    We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Controller to oversee and manage the financial operations of our growing organization. This role is ideal for a hands-on finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced, service-based environment and understands both the strategic and operational sides of the business.

    The Controller will be responsible for financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, job costing oversight, and building scalable processes and internal controls. This individual will serve as a trusted partner to ownership and operational leadership, ensuring financial clarity, accountability, and sustainable growth.

    Responsibilities:

    Oversee day-to-day accounting operations including AP, AR, payroll support, and general ledger management

    Manage month-end and year-end close processes and ensure accurate financial reporting

    Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements

    Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable financial regulations

    Coordinate with external CPA, tax advisors, and auditors

    Develop and maintain annual budgets and rolling forecasts

    Lead cash flow forecasting and working capital management

    Analyze job costing, labor efficiency, margins, and overhead performance

    Provide clear financial insights and recommendations to ownership and leadership

    Establish and track KPIs to support data-driven decision-making

    Design, implement, and improve financial processes and internal controls

    Establish safeguards to protect company assets and reduce risk

    Standardize accounting procedures and documentation

    Identify operational inefficiencies and recommend improvements

    Support optimization of accounting and service management software systems

    Work closely with operations and service leadership to align financials with real-world execution

    Assist with revenue recognition, billing processes, and job costing accuracy

    Step in to perform detailed accounting work when needed, including reconciliations and reviews

    Requirements:

    5+ years of experience in a Controller, Accounting Manager, or similar leadership role

    Experience supporting small to mid-sized businesses

    Strong understanding of service-based or project-based industries (construction, HVAC, or trades preferred)

    Demonstrated experience building or improving financial processes and internal controls

    Proficiency with accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, NetSuite, or similar)

    Advanced Excel skills and strong financial modeling ability

    Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred but not required)

    Strong communication skills with the ability to explain financial concepts to non-financial leaders
