    Business Leadership Program Internship Overview:

    Synchrony’s Business Leadership Program Summer Internship is a 10-week paid assignment in one of our 10 Tracks. During the summer, each BLP Intern is provided with project work that is important to our business, and we’ll look to you to challenge us and contribute to driving innovation for our future. Beyond the assignment, BLPs gain the full Synchrony Experience with an immersive orientation during Week 1, the Intern Summer Series to meet and network with leaders around the business, and ongoing support from a team and mentors who are invested in your success.

    Risk Management BLP Internship Experience: What You’ll Accomplish

    This internship is for students who are looking to get a critical jump start on a career in Risk Management, working side by side with our experts in the function to gain valuable hands-on experience. Risk Management provides an independent assessment of Synchrony’s risks through establishing the risk limits of the company and measuring to ensure the business operates within those limits. We ensure that all relevant risks in our business activities are appropriately identified, measured, monitored and controlled.

    In the Risk Management BLP Internship, you may gain exposure across our business functions, as well as across our Risk functions below, challenging teams on their actions to ensure they fully understand their risks.

    • Credit Risk

    • Operational Risk, including Model Risk

    • Compliance

    • Strategic Risk

    • Model Market and Liquidity Risk

    What do we look for in all potential BLP Interns?

    • Ability to effectively work independently and within collaborative teams 

    • Proven leadership both inside and beyond the classroom

    • Strong project management and communication skills

    • Demonstrated flexibility, adaptability, and passion for learning 

    • Passion for excellence with high integrity and a commitment to quality

    • Relevant experience or demonstrated interest in area of work

    Desired Characteristics for the Risk Management Track

    • Analytical and problem-solving skills

    • Intellectual curiosity

    • Ability to synthesize complex information

    • Critical reasoning, problem-solving and creative thinking

    • Strong leadership skills, including the ability to lead projects of varying scope

    • Finance or accounting knowledge/experience

    • Strong work ethic, passion for excellence with high integrity, and commitment to quality

    Basic Qualifications & Requirements

    • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management (preferred), Actuarial Science, Analytics, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance or other relevant major

    • Excellent academic record – Minimum overall 3.0 GPA 

    • Available for 10 consecutive weeks during Internship (June – August)

    • Must be able to work minimum of 40 hour week

    Additional Eligibility Requirements

    • You must be 18 years or older 

    • Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen. 

    • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act. 

    • Geographic mobility: Ability to relocate based on program or business direction
