  • Responsibilities

    Butterfly Staffing is recruiting for an experienced Business Operations Manager for a well-established marine business in Yorktown, Virginia. This is a key on-site position working closely with ownership and overseeing the financial, HR, payroll, insurance and administrative functions that keep the business running day to day. This is an on-site role in Yorktown, Virginia, and the selected candidate must reside on the Virginia Peninsula.

    Responsibilities

    • Oversee day-to-day business operations and administrative processes
    • Manage employee administration, HR documentation, payroll coordination, benefits and related employee matters
    • Oversee accounts receivable and accounts payable processes
    • Manage bank and credit card reconciliations
    • Support general ledger activity and review financial records for accuracy
    • Prepare and review profit and loss reporting and other management reports
    • Monitor cash flow and assist with budgeting and forecasting
    • Coordinate with outside accountants and other financial professionals
    • Ensure required tax reporting is completed, including Virginia sales and use tax and watercraft tax
    • Coordinate insurance renewals, audits and workers’ compensation requirements
    • Maintain appropriate business records, procedures and internal controls
    • Work with payroll, insurance, banking and other outside providers
    • Help improve administrative and financial processes as the company grows
    • Maintain confidentiality of employee, financial and company information
    • Assist ownership with special projects and other operational needs as required

    Qualifications

    • Experience in business operations, accounting, bookkeeping, office management, HR administration or a similar role
    • Working knowledge of payroll and benefits administration
    • Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations and financial reporting
    • Familiarity with insurance audits and tax reporting
    • Strong Excel and general business software skills
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to accuracy
    • Ability to manage recurring monthly, quarterly and annual deadlines
    • Comfortable working in a small business environment where responsibilities cross several functional areas

    $70,000-$78,000 per year
