    Job Description

    About the Role

    The Business Process Owner (BPO) – Manufacturing is accountable for the end‑to‑end design, performance, and continuous improvement of core manufacturing business processes. This role ensures manufacturing processes are standardized, efficient, compliant, and properly supported by digital systems such as ERP, MES, CMMS, and related applications.

    The BPO serves as the primary bridge between Manufacturing, Maintenance, Quality, Supply Chain, and IT, translating operational needs into system requirements while driving process discipline, adoption, and measurable business outcomes.

    Key Responsibilities

    Process Ownership & Governance

    • Own and govern assigned manufacturing processes (e.g., production execution, materials management, maintenance workflows, quality reporting).
    • Define process standards, policies, KPIs, and documentation across facilities.
    • Ensure process alignment with safety, quality, regulatory, and food safety requirements.
    • Act as final decision authority for process design, changes, and prioritization.

    Digital Enablement & Systems

    • Lead manufacturing process design and deployment within ERP, MES, CMMS, and related systems.
    • Partners with IT to define requirements, test solutions, manage enhancements, and resolve issues.
    • Ensure system configurations support standardized, scalable manufacturing operations.
    • Drive adoption and proper usage of systems through training and change management.

    Continuous Improvement

    • Identify gaps, inefficiencies, and variation in manufacturing processes.
    • Lead cross‑functional improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or TPM principles.
    • Measure process performance and deliver improvements in safety, quality, cost, delivery, and uptime.
    • Support site rollouts, system upgrades, and transformation initiatives.

    Cross‑Functional Leadership

    • Serve as the primary manufacturing process expert and point of escalation.
    • Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Finance.
    • Facilitate workshops, process reviews, and decision forums.
    • Influence without direct authority to drive alignment and results.

    Training, Documentation & Compliance

    • Develop and maintain SOPs, work instructions, and process maps.
    • Support audit readiness and compliance with internal controls and external regulations.
    • Provide training and ongoing support to users across plants.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Operations Management, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
    • Minimum of 5–8 years ’ experience in manufacturing operations, process improvement, or manufacturing systems.
    • Hands‑on experience with ERP (Preferably SAP S4) and/or MES systems in a manufacturing environment.
    • Strong understanding of manufacturing workflows, data, and performance metrics.
    • Proven ability to lead cross‑functional teams and manage change.
    • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Food, CPG, or regulated manufacturing experience.
    • Lean, Six Sigma, or TPM certification.
    • Experience as a Process Owner or Super User during ERP/MES implementations.
    • Familiarity with CMMS, reliability processes, and maintenance integration.
    • Project management certification or experience leading enterprise initiatives.

    Additional Information

    The pay range for this role is $127,100- $152,500 (Salaried). Actual wage will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, and candidate skill set and experience. Base pay is just one component of Jack Link’s Total Rewards package for Team Members. Other rewards may include annual incentive and program-specific awards.     While performing the duties of this job the Team Member will be required to wear the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (i.e. beard/hairnet, ear plugs, frock, boots, etc.), stand for extended periods of time, and use hands/arms to push, pull, reach and occasionally lift above head. The Team Member must occasionally lift, push, pull up to 25 pounds and 50 pounds infrequently. Team Members are requested to visually inspect equipment and/or product.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a Team Member encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The work environment is a plant setting with wet/slippery floors, varying degrees of temperatures with an average temperature of 40 degrees in the production area. Team Members will be exposed to raw and/or cooked meat products and moving equipment and will be required to follow all Food Safety Quality requirements.
