Business Process Reengineering Specialist (Hybrid – Lansing, MI Area)

We're seeking a skilled Business Process Reengineering Specialist to support an upcoming IT initiative focused on business process improvement and cross-functional alignment. This hybrid role will require candidates to be commutable to the Lansing, MI area for onsite collaboration.

This position is split between two main areas of focus:

• 80% of the role will center on gathering and documenting business and functional requirements for a major IT project
• 20% of the role involves creating standardized templates and training materials to support business analysts, quality assurance professionals, and subject matter experts

The goal is to bridge communication between business stakeholders, technical teams, and project leadership while strengthening process clarity and tool usage across teams. A strong background in both business analysis and quality assurance , combined with a teaching or coaching mindset, will be essential to success in this role.

What You'll Do

• Lead discovery sessions to capture clear, testable business requirements that align with project scope
• Document current ("as-is") and future ("to-be") business processes, identifying gaps and areas for improvement
• Work closely with technical teams, QA, UI/UX designers, and stakeholders to translate business needs into actionable work
• Create and refine process documentation, templates, and project artifacts tailored to the team's delivery model
• Support backlog grooming and prioritization efforts in Azure DevOps , ensuring epics and features are consistently updated
• Coach and mentor internal staff (BAs, QAs, SMEs) on using templates, tools, and Agile practices
• Maintain alignment with SEM deliverables, compliance policies, and data governance expectations
• Collaborate with leadership on Build vs. Buy decisions and assess the business impact of scope changes
• Contribute to roadmap planning and process documentation using tools like Visio or Figma

What You Bring

• A training or teaching background with at least 5 years of experience supporting business analysis and QA functions
• Strong familiarity with Agile environments and tools like Azure DevOps , including backlog creation and user story management
• Proven ability to write clear, detailed documentation and translate between technical and non-technical audiences
• Hands-on experience with system testing, requirements analysis, and quality assurance workflows
• Solid understanding of cross-functional roles (BA, QA, Dev) and how they contribute within Agile teams
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a knack for simplifying the complex
