The Telemetry RN will need to specialize in monitoring, reading, and recording the outputs of an electrocardiogram which converts the heart’s electrical impulses into a visible and readable rhythm. They are trained to detect harmful changes in these readable rhythms and notify the doctor on duty. They also monitor essential signs such as oxygen level and blood pressure. If an irregular heart impulse is noticed, telemetry nurses may help with some procedures such as treatments for cardiac and cardiovascular emergencies.

Must Haves:

Telemetry experience required - required to read/verify strips with each shift assessment and upon change in condition Oncology and hospice experience preferred as may float to the oncology unit as well as other med/surg tele units

med surg experience needed

ACLS

BLS

NIHSS

At least an Associates Degree

Further Contract Details:

Guaranteed at least 36 hours a week

Night shift available 3x12

Est. weekly gross pay=$2,520

13-Week Contract

every other weekend

UNIT SPECIFIC DETAILS

The unit is a mix of observation patients and patients who may be medically clear waiting for CM clearance for safe discharge planning.

Observation: TIA, Cardiac Observation, Post-procedure (biopsies, laparoscopic procedures, endo and IR procedures), mild CHF/COPD Exacerbations, and anemia works to name a few.

Length of Stay: tend to see 24-48 hours but this can change depending on progression of plan of care.
