    Who we are: Carolina Small Business Development Fund (CSBDF) is a nonprofit and certified community development financial institution (CDFI). We are passionate and committed to providing support to small businesses across the state. Our mission is to foster economic development in underserved communities by providing capital, business services, and policy research to support small businesses. CSBDF provides assistance to small businesses in four major ways: as a partner, as a trusted guide, as an advocate for small businesses, and as an accessible funding source.     ** Nature of Work:** The Business Solutions Associate is a full-time, Monday-Friday position (with occasional weekend work required for special events). This role provides support for business development, program delivery, and client services across North Carolina. The ideal candidate has the ability to work independently and will collaborate closely with the Business Solutions and Credit units.

    ** Supervision Received/Exercised:** Works under the general supervision of the Business Solutions Director and has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

    ** Business Solution Officer Functional Area (** _ how the Business Solutions Team is supported):_

    • Assist with program development and implementation
    • Support Business Development Officer in assigned territories by conducting intake, performing market research, creating and facilitating partnerships and performing basic credit analysis
    • Handle basic loan processing tasks (data entry, file management).
    • Serve as an additional point of contact for the public, conducting client intake and assessments.
    • Ensure that all technical assistance interactions, trainings, and events are properly tracked for each client.
    • Build and strengthen partnerships with organizations serving small businesses. (i.e. SBTDCs, governments, community banks, chambers of commerce).
    • Work on special projects that align with Business Solutions performance metrics and the Strategic Plan.

    ** Credit Functional Area (** _ Expected collaboration with the Credit Team):_

    • Assist with the management of the organizations loan portfolio supporting a quality credit culture.
    • Assist with loan portfolio management, including periodic financial statements, annual relationship reviews, collections, loan modifications, and compliance.

    ** Marketing Functional Area (** _ Expected collaboration Marketing Team):_

    • Represent the organization at community events as a brand ambassador.
    • Work with marketing team to ensure that services, partnerships events have successful promotions in accordance with brand guidelines and strategic marketing plan.

    _ Qualifications/Experience: _

    • High School Degree Required. College courses preferred in Business Administration, Entrepreneurship, Economic Development, Finance, Economics or a related field.
    • Minimum of 1 year of experience in banking, business consulting or entrepreneurship.
    • Any combination of experience and training that can be considered equivalent to the education preference.
    • Willingness and ability to travel within service area to visit applicants, referral partners, and borrowers.

    **Knowledge: **

    • Basic understanding of small business operations and/or credit analysis
    • Reading, understanding, and applying relevant rules, regulations, policies, procedures and other governing regulations.

    _ Skills/Abilities:_

    • Adept analytical mindset with attention to detail.
    • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
    • Maintain confidentially processing sensitive client information using discretion and tact.
    • Support a quality credit culture and operate on a team-based lateral organization structure.
    • Maintains and supports a shared collaborative team culture in person and virtually.
    • Ability to meet reasonable deadlines and prioritization of workflow within a changing fast paced work environment.

    Physical Demands:

    • Work is principally sedentary but may involve some physical exertion during visits with the course of normal work activities, and travel to meetings, conferences or workshops in other cities, sit or stand for extended periods of time, squat, kneel, stoop, regularly use fingers, hands for computer work. As an exempt employee, extended hours may be required on a frequent basis.
