    OPPORTUNITY

    Business Staffing of America, Inc., is seeking to contract with a Engineering Technician, Senior Designer, and Mechanical Technician for Fermilab located in Batavia, IL. 60510

    1. SENIOR DESIGNER SCOPE OF WORK:
    • Perform design stack-up calculations, layout designs, detailing, and create advanced level 3D models in NX11
    • Research and analyze design solutions.
    • Coordinate design development with project team members.
    • Select and specify design components and materials.
    • Participates in the documentation and change control of a design
    • Maintain files and electronically store files in Team Center
    • Abides by and is responsible for performing all duties in accordance with all environmental, health, and safety regulations and practices pertinent to this position.

    SENIOR DESIGNER PURPOSE:

    We are seeking the services of a Senior Designer to supplement existing resources to the current staff. Under limited supervision, the Senior Designer is responsible for the preparation of mechanical designs and drawings utilizing NX11 and Team Center in support of the APS-TD (PIP-II, Accelerator Support, SPF, Superconducting Magnets and LCLS-II) projects. The Senior Designer will ensure compliance and consistency to professional standards.

    SENIOR DESIGNER STAFF REQUIREMENTS:

    • Demonstrate acceptable proficiency in NX11 CAD via an interview through the ZOOM meeting portal
    • A minimum of 5 years experience as a Senior Designer
    • Ability to deliver a quality work product for deadline driver projects
    • ASME Y14.5 – 1994 Knowledge or higher

     2. MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN SCOPE OF WORK:

    • Assemble technically complicated mechanical components for the Accelerator using technical drawings, blueprints and verbal instructions
    • Test completed assemblies electrically, hydrostatically and mechanically using precision measuring instruments.
    • Use machine tools to make fine adjustments to parts to a +/- .005 tolerance.
    • Must be abele to legally operate cars and light trucks
    • Must be capable of sustained manual labor.
    • Have a working experience in the use of common hand and power tools.
    • Must be able to medically qualify to work in O.D.H. environment.
    • Must be able to lift as much as 50 lbs.
    • Must be willing to work mandatory overtime and rotating shifts.
    • Must respond to emergency call-ins within 1 hour of time notified.
    • Assist in the production of spare Target/Horn assembly for the BNB experiment
    • Supervise operation of the Tech Shop at MI-8 building
    • Assist in the operation and maintenance of the MI-8 underdrain system
    • Monitor and record data collected from the BNB air handling system

    MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN REQUIREMENTS:

    • Minimum of 5+ years' experience with large assemblies.
    • Proven track record as a team player
    • Must be proficient with basic computer programs such as Word and Excel
    • Must have good effective communication skills
    1. ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN I SCOPE OF WORK:
    • Ultrasonically clean vacuum parts and assemblies
    • Design, fabricate, and assemble vacuum experiments and devices
    • Design, fabricate, assemble, and repair vacuum systems of the particle accelerator
    • Leak check using a helium mass spectrometer
    • Repair and rebuild vacuum beam valves, block valves, and all metal valves
    • Repair and rebuild vacuum pressure gauging
    • Repair and rebuild vacuum turbomolecular pumps
    • Repair and rebuild vacuum scroll pumps

    ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN JOB REQUIREMENTS:

    • Fabricate 5 Booster RF Cavities (approximately 20 weeks/each, total of 100 weeks)
    • Prepare cop5 weeks)
    • per/ceramic RF feedthrough assemblies for GTAW (gas tungsten arc welding)
    • Operate die grinder and other power tools to surface finish copper components
    • Fabricate 15 Booster RF Cavity Tuners (approximately 5 weeks/ea., total 75 weeks)
    • Braze coppers, copper alloys, and stainless-steel tubes using Sil-Fos, BT-721, and 505 braze filler metals
    • Perform pneumatic leak checks of all joints
    • Perform flow certifications of all cooling circuits using low-conductivity water system
    • Tine plate copper surfaces
    • Operate Crown forklift to transport tuners, and remove/install tuners from cavities
    • Refurbish 20 MI RF Cavities as needed, including vacuum leak checking and repair, and cooling line repair
    • Refurbish 40 MI RF Cavity tuners as needed, including assembly, brazing, and weld preparation
    • Support maintenance of 22 Booster RF cavities as needed, including brazing and tuner replacement
    • Support maintenance of 72 ferrite RF tuning devices for normal conducting RF cavities
    • Assembly of prototype Recycler 53 MHz RF cavity
    • Perform high vacuum leak checks of normal conducting RF cavities and components using helium mass spectrometry leak detectors
    • Perform radiation surveys of RF components for sorting and disposal (duration of term)
    • Perform all duties in accordance with Environmental, Safety, and Health Regulations (duration of term)
    • Assist in generating Hazard Analyses as required

    ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN REQUIREMENTS:

    • Minimum of 5 years experience assembling and repairing high-vacuum systems (1x10ˉ₉ torr or better)
    • Proven track record as a team player
    • Ability to work in a radiation environment
    • Ability to work in a tunnel enclosure of the particle accelerator
    • Ability to lift 50 pounds
    • Forklift operator experience
    • Overhead crane operator experience
    • Torch braze copper, bras, bronze, and stainless-steel fittings and tubes from ¼ inch to 2-inch diameter
    • Proficient with basic hand tools and power tools (Die grinder, drill, Dremel, router, etc.)
    • Basic computer knowledge and ability to document progress in electronic logbook
    • High-Vacuum experience
    • Oxygen deficient hazard areas experience
    • Radiation areas experience
    • Tight spaces work experience
    • Underground work experience

    COMPENSATION:

    Hourly Rate = $18.16

    Health & Wellness = $4.48

    Total Hourly Rate = $22.64
