Job Summary
The Busser/Runner is responsible for supporting the front-of-house team by maintaining a clean and welcoming environment, assisting in food delivery, managing the expo station, and ensuring timely service of dine-in and to-go orders. This role is essential to maintaining smooth service flow and guest satisfaction in a fast-paced café setting.
Primary Responsibilities
Promote, work, and act in a manner consistent with the mission of Lodge Bread Company.
Promptly greet guests at the table and serve water, bread, and butter upon arrival.
Clear used tableware between courses and fully reset tables after guests depart.
Run food from the kitchen to tables quickly and accurately, ensuring correct dishes go to the correct guests.
Assist servers in monitoring guest needs (e.g., refills, additional tableware).
Keep dining areas clean and orderly: wipe tables and chairs, sweep floors, and maintain a tidy appearance throughout service.
Maintain clean, stocked service stations with silverware, napkins, condiments, and other supplies.
Manage the expo station by coordinating completed tickets, organizing plates for service, and communicating with kitchen staff and front-of-house to ensure order accuracy and timing.
Handle to-go and pickup orders: bag and label items, verify contents with ticket, and place them in designated areas for guest or delivery driver pickup.
Monitor ticket flow and pace of the kitchen to anticipate and resolve bottlenecks.
Communicate clearly and courteously with hosts, servers, and kitchen team to keep service running efficiently.
Restock utensils, glassware, paper products, condiments, and food packaging supplies as needed.
Monitor and maintain cleanliness of the restroom(s), checking every 30 minutes during shift.
Clean and sanitize service stations, counters, shelves, and high-touch areas regularly.
Assist in closing duties, including trash removal, floor mopping, and organizing supplies.
Thank guests as they exit and provide a friendly final impression.
Attend all scheduled employee meetings and contribute suggestions for improvement.
Support fellow team members during peak service times and provide backup as needed.

Qualifications & Requirements
Previous food service or hospitality experience is preferred, but not required
Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment
Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8 hours)
Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds
Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
Familiarity with basic sanitation and food safety practices
