We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Buyer I to join our team in Melrose Park. This temp-to-hire position is responsible for purchasing services, supplies, and equipment in accordance with company policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will be experienced in sourcing, negotiating, and coordinating the procurement process to ensure quality, timely delivery, and cost-effectiveness.

Monday to Friday

8 am to 5 pm

Pay rate: $27.50 Hr.

Skills/Duties

• Purchase materials and/or services to support daily operations across multiple facilities

• Manage purchase order exceptions such as cancellations, expedites, and deferrals

• Communicate delivery updates to Sales and Production teams

• Work with Receiving to resolve discrepancies in quantity or inspection

• Address invoice and pricing issues quickly and accurately

• Assist QA in handling non-conforming materials

• Generate and process high-dollar POs with Management approval

• Maintain lead-time tracking for critical commodities

• Support supplier qualification and evaluation tasks

• Execute cost-reduction and cost-containment initiatives

• Provide material allocation reports for key sub-assemblies

• Assist in bi-annual inventory counts

• Travel between internal locations as needed

• Maintain accurate procurement records and supplier information

• Collaborate cross-functionally to align procurement with business needs

• Perform other tasks as assigned

• Experience in purchasing, sourcing, or supply chain management

• Familiarity with logistics and materials management

• Proficiency in MRP and SAP ERP systems

• Excellent negotiation and contract management skills

• Strong data analysis and decision-making ability

• Effective verbal and written communication skills

• Knowledge of production planning processes (preferred)

• Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field (preferred)
