United Weld Holdings has an exciting opportunity available for a Buyer -Level I, to be an integral part of our Procurement team. The Buyer is responsible for sourcing and procuring tubular steel products for pipe spooling.
What You'll Do:
Maintain and strengthen relationship with suppliers.
Develop new supply sources when needed.
Negotiate lower costs with vendors.
Measure and track internal performance and responsible spend.
Approve purchase orders and invoices based on approval levels.
Ensure proper documentation is sent from the suppliers and that all purchasing activities adhere to established policies and procedures.
Be aware of market forces, which have significant bearing on relevant negotiations or future purchases.
Pursue cost reductions on a continuing basis.
Work with vendors both on-site and off-site to maintain proper inventory levels, quality, and delivery for purchased items.
Ability to negotiate and maintain contract agreements for strategic commodities.
POSITION LEVELS
BUYER I:
Responsible for purchasing and negotiating materials, equipment, and supplies from vendors.
Evaluates vendor quotes and services to determine most desirable suppliers.
1-2 years’ experience
Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures.
Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision. Primary job functions do not require exercising independent judgment.
Reports to a supervisor or manager
BUYER II:
Responsible for purchasing and negotiating materials, equipment, and supplies from vendors.
Evaluates vendor quotes and services to determine most desirable suppliers.
2-5 years of experience.
Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures.
Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals to perform a variety of tasks.
Works under general supervision. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
Reports to a supervisor or manager
BUYER III:
Responsible for purchasing and negotiating major materials, equipment, and supplies from vendors.
Evaluates vendor quotes and services to determine most desirable suppliers.
May require a bachelor's degree and at least 8 years of experience.
Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Performs a variety of tasks. Leads and directs the work of a procurement department and of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
