  • Responsibilities

    Job Description

    The Buyer will manage purchasing activities in a low volume, high mix, and time-sensitive environment. This position is required to deploy supply chain initiatives such as negotiations, supplier management, strategic sourcing, and lean operational concepts. The Buyer’s core responsibility is to procure goods that meet/exceed quality requirements at the lowest possible cost delivered on time to support customer requirements.

    Essential Functions Performed by the Position

    • Utilize the company’s ERP purchasing system to process purchase orders.
    • Execute RFQ’s and award business through strategic sourcing and analytical supplier selection.
    • Ensure the accuracy of documents to meet the terms and conditions, payment terms, freight terms, and other key commercial terms.
    • Cultivate supplier relationships and establish new relationships to support supply chain strategy and business needs.
    • Collaborate with internal requestors to understand requirements, specifications, scope of work, budget, and delivery requirements.
    • Stay informed with real-time information on orders from RFQ to the use of the product.
    • Recognize opportunities for continuous improvement and be an advocate and champion for change in support of Operational Excellence.
    • Ensures adherence to all Environmental, Health, and Safety requirements per the policies and procedures.
    • Manages and prioritizes own time to meet the goals and objectives of the procurement team.

    Required Education and Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management or related field required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in procurement.
    • Experience with lean methods and application preferred.
    • Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
