Our client is a Solar Manufacturing company with a focus on reducing carbon emissions and improving access to clean energy. With a brand new, state-of-the-art facility in Fort Mills, SC, they utilize advanced manufacturing technology to produce high efficiency PV cells and modules. In the Buyer position, you will have a flexible/hybrid schedule and lots of opportunity for growth as they expand the supply chain department.
In this position as the Buyer (internally titled MRO and CAPEX Buyer), you will be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end procurement for Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul and Capital Expenditures related to production equipment and facility upgrades. This is critical in optimizing supply chains, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring cost-effective acquisition for both operation maintenance items and long term capital assets. Key objectives in this role is to ensure spare parts inventory and standardize the PR to PO process and turnaround time.
Responsibilities:
Lead procurement activities across MRO and CAPEX categories to support solar PV manufacturing operations. Manage suppliers for equipment parts, tools, safety gear, and facility needs, ensuring cost-effective, timely, and compliant material flow.
Negotiate contracts and delivery terms, optimize PR-to-PO processes, and forecast inventory needs with maintenance teams to minimize downtime.
Oversee CAPEX procurement for production lines, automation systems, and facility upgrades.
Collaborate with engineering, finance, and operations to define requirements, issue RFPs/RFQs, evaluate vendor proposals, and negotiate long-term agreements aligned with ROI and budget goals.
Coordinate with cross-functional teams on logistics, compliance, and contract execution.
Ensure adherence to OSHA, EPA, IEC, ITAR/EAR, and GAAP standards.
Drive supplier consolidation, track procurement KPIs, and deliver reporting on cost savings, performance, and risk mitigation.
Qualifications:
Expertise in both operational procurement (MRO) and capital asset acquisition.
Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and procurement tools (e.g., Ariba, Coupa) for inventory and CAPEX tracking.
Strong financial acumen to evaluate CAPEX proposals, ROI models, and depreciation strategies.
Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, engineering, business, or a related field.
5+ years of combined experience in MR&O and CAPEX procurement, preferably in manufacturing (solar PV, semiconductor, or heavy industrial sectors)
Proven track record in managing high-value CAPEX projects ($500k+), including vendor selection, contract negotiation, and project coordination.
