  • Responsibilities

    Purpose:

    The Buyer/Production Specialist is responsible for managing the procurement of materials and services necessary for production, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery. This role involves coordinating with suppliers and maintaining inventory levels to support production schedules. The specialist will also collaborate with the production team and IE to optimize processes, reduce costs, and ensure the highest quality standards are met. By effectively managing the supply chain and production resources, the Buyer/Production Specialist plays a critical role in achieving the company's operational and financial goals.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Identify and evaluate suppliers for production, MRO, non-production materials, and outside services.
    • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers to ensure cost-effective procurement.
    • Assure all Production Material, MRO, Outside Services, Capital purchasing follow approved process with multi-quote and final negotiations to drive lower cost.
    • Maintain MRP to ensure material requirements are met.
    • Maintain the BOM
    • Promote and enforce adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations.

    Inventory Management:

    • Monitor inventory levels and ensure timely replenishment of materials.
    • Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to forecast material requirements.
    • Implement inventory control measures to minimize excess stock and reduce costs.
    • Collaborate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and resolve any supply chain issues.
    • Generate and analyze inventory reports to provide insights and recommendations for inventory optimization.

    Documentation and Reporting:

    • Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and supplier performance.
    • Generate regular reports on procurement activities and performance metrics.
    • Report monthly inventory turns.
    • Ensure all procurement activities are documented and compliant with company policies.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, or related field.
    • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in procurement, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
    • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
